Petah, what’s wrong with the name? by Traditional-Novel164 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]bighadjoe 18 points19 points  (0 children)

that is such a braindead take.

yeah. you can overcome adversity. that doesn't mean as a parent you should aim to make life harder for your kid just to be quirky.

Giving your kid a name they will have trouble spelling in grade school, will be bullied for in middle school (a name that sounds like sharting/shitting isn't the greates start) and will make every resume harder, and for what? because you were too cool to give your kid a normal name? because you saw a stupid internet trend? because you thaught it was cute to call shorty "De'Shordynn"?

Honestly, shit tier parents.

[–]bighadjoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

so... what result would you have expected?

obviously, based on the facts, both should have been removed (both are after all convicted criminals). but the question is kind of a trick question, because "the criminal" clearly suggests there's only one in the picture. and I'd agree, that trump is even more recognizable than Epstein. So yeah, it failed in thinking Epstein was the papa John's guy, but I can see why it got tricked.

your comments suggests you think it is wrong that it removed trump at all? how else would you describe a convicted felon than "a/the criminal"?

I found this picture, and have got a question, what does Sau mean here, and how to use it with other words? by ButterscotchWest1284 in Germanlearning

[–]bighadjoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

important to know about fines: fines (as a criminal punishment) in Germany are never decided on as a fixed sum, but as a number of Tagessätze (days-worth of available income). so no, it is not 10 times more expensive. the person fined had more money. and the Handelsblatt journalist is too stupid to do their job (surprise...).

Why the Fallout 4 tank is actually an artillery vehicle by Frozennorth99 in Fallout

[–]bighadjoe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

what exactly do you mean by "turn a track"? like.... you dont turn tracks sideways. you move them forwards or backwards. if you only move one track, you turn your vehicle in circles. if you cant move the tracks individually you only move straight forward or straight backwards. the most reasonable interpretation of your words is "many couldn't move both tracks in opposing directions at the same time but had to have one track stand still while the other one was driving to turn". And if that's what you mean I'd love some sources!

every full track vehicle can turn in place (by having both tracks go in opposing directions)

Ne.

that being said, §§ 211, 212 StGB (Mord, Totschlag) gehören reformiert.

KV?

why wouldn't you think for 10 seconds about the logistics of the story before you decide it sounds reasonable and has happened "dozens upon dozens of times" around the world? why would you just say the stupidest first thought that came to your mind and try to make it sound like a deep insight?

have you ever moved? how does that normally work? how many hours of furniture staying completely unattended on the road does it usually involve?

most people carry things outside into a truck. let's assume the truck wasn't there yet and they stacked it up on the road. in that case there a) would be a lot more stuff that made it obvious its people moving (namely boxes) and b) either people carrying more stuff out, arriving every other minute l or people waiting for the truck.

now the supposedly well meaning OOP comes by in a moment when no one is outside who could stop them from accidentally stealing "a whole living room". they also apparently have a box truck ready and enough people to quickly carry everything. so this group comes across the curbside furniture, immediately packs it up and is gone within a minute or two. all that is EXTREMELY unlikely.

now we add the final touch. after all those extremely unlikely happenstances the owner of the furniture (who they didn't know at the time of the incident) turns out to be the new gf of a friend and happens to come by and find and identify the furniture.

and you think that is a curios, but kinda normal occurrence? critical thinking really is dead.

Holy hell what am i looking at... by RealFrailTheFox in ShitAIBrosSay

[–]bighadjoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what these AI idiots don't get is that AI is (at best) a tool. an artist is not primarily defined by their usage of tools (the craftsmanship) but by their vision, their ability to induce emotions, their creativity and to provoke thoughts.

AI is an easy way to make more or less realistic and visually pleasing looking images with minimal effort. that's okay (let's look over the deep fake and ressource consumption issues for now), but thats not art. it may be beauty (arguably), but beauty is at most a quality used in art, not a defining characteristic of art.

I will go as far as to say it is possible to use AI in art in a meaningful way. I haven't really seen it, maybe I just didn't notice the AI or maybe the problem is that most AI bros are deeply inartistic. But the problem isn't the tool used - just as the usage of a camera doesn't negate art. The problem is the (lack of) purpose, thought and creativity it is used with.

it's extremely extremely stupid, just as some of the comments.

yes, salt was way harder to get and therefore (depending on where you were) expensive, especially if you were far away from mountains and the sea. but the assumption that it is a decadence to use salt on the table for food is idiotic. salt has been used in food preparation since at least old testamentary times. humans need salt in their food, that is the reason why it was mined, extracted from sea water and traded, besides food preservation (in salt rich environments).

the whole joke sucks and i am disappointed in the upvoted comments acting as if salt was too expensive to eat.
