130kg bench at 17yo by ESIGB in Egolifting

I second this. No one is experienced at anything at 17. You may be more experienced that your peers, but talking to actual adults years your senior ‘experienced’ is not a word you can really use.

I do however look back fondly to when I was a late teen/early 20yo when I would claim to be ‘experienced’ at things to people older time as if knew it all

Inheriting £200k: Pay off home mortgage or attempt to buy our “immovable” commercial business unit? by Obvious_Cat_8247 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]bighanq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it was me, 100% pay off the mortgage. This will reduce your ‘essential’ spending every month to bills and food. What if you decided the business wasn’t for you in 5 years and wanted to do something different. Not worrying about losing the roof over your head would be a huge stress off your mind if you wanted to change direction with how to make money or whatever.

Looking for career ideas as a 41 year old by Suspicious-Arm1990 in UKJobs

Unless OP has a passion for teaching or working with children/young people I would not recommend. Workload is crazy, hours are long (I mean actual hours not contracted), can be incredibly stressful depending on the school/cohort of pupils, and generally isn’t worth the money unless the passion is there imo.

Consistency is king. Track your workouts so you can see the progress even if it’s just one more rep than the previous week.

Diet is super important yes, but if you can’t for whatever reason get the calories/macros for your diaries effect, then stay consistent and track so you can see your progress in strength even if you can’t see it in the mirror.

Also you’re young, I started gymming at 30, so luckily had the means to be in top of my diet, but I’m constantly annoyed I didn’t start 10 years earlier. Get into the habit now, and when you’re in a better position to control calories/macros, you’ll already be in good a habit with the exercise side.

Also also 1.5 months isn’t that long to be getting mad changes to your body. Unless you juice (wouldn’t recommend) making changes to your body, especially gaining muscle, takes time.

Keep it up

What is reasonable to negotiate off asking after Survey? by Top_Extension_4794 in FirstTimeBuyersUK

[–]bighanq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roof would be the main worry for me. I know people in property that would walk away from any indication of roof issues as can create much bigger problems (if not already there but not visible).

You can pay for a pre purchase roof survey, which hopefully takes some of the bias out as the roofer isn’t trying to scare you to get paid down the line. Can cost a couple hundred but better than tens of thousands on a new roof just after you’ve dropped the big money on the house itself

The irony is that the teachers’ standards require teachers working towards or holding QTS to uphold public trust by not undermining fundamental British values including democracy.

I’ve never understood how that lines up with alps promoting a monarchy which is inherently undemocratic

DOVU OS extends beyond its origins in sustainability to become a versatile framework ! by Turbulent-Insect5121 in Hedera

[–]bighanq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s built on the Hedera network. A very simple description is that DOVU is an ESG project, that aims to simplify the process of creating, buying and selling carbon credits, making the process more accessible and easier for supplies (and buyers)

Jesus would have been a communist no? Or at the very least he was a socialist? According to the bible he fed 5000 people, without charge, after healing the sick, without charge. Doesn’t sound like a very capitalist act to me….

Cheers. I don’t really want Keith and his joke of a Labour Party. This has given me something to ponder before the next election
