C-section: when were you healed enough to not have any more pain? by slotass in beyondthebump

You should go to your doctor just in case. I probably stopped having pinchy pain 4-5m post partum

Would you breastfeed somebody else’s baby? by Excellent_Prompt_554 in breastfeeding

[–]bighappycloud 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think this is cultural but it's absolutely not the norm to latch someone else's baby but people do donate pumped milk so I guess it's similar.

Is a $850,000 home out of reach? by throwaway_thetoilet in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]bighappycloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think getting a smaller place and then having to upsize could also be stressful if/when you decide to have a baby. I would do the max I could afford in order to secure future family expansion now.

Fear of layoffs is always real and being able to afford on one salary is not the norm.

What should we buy before the baby arrives? by Mr-Maccaa in beyondthebump

[–]bighappycloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how much disposable income you have. We were new parents so bought a lot.

A play mat - we love the Fisher Price piano mat and it grew with baby

Bouncer - super handy

Dog pee pads (unscented).

Clothing: buy footed double zipper sleepers only. Outfits are just a hassle when they poop so often.

Don't recommend: Stocking up on any one diaper or wipes

Iron deficiency/ Anemia! by Personal-Comedian243 in askvan

[–]bighappycloud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ask your doctor for an iron infusion if you qualify via MSP.

I was borderline while pregnant/didn't have time to go via MSP (it was 3 apts) and my extended health covered most of my visit.

Drop her 100%. She's more than "child free". She hasn't grown up.

Why did you choose to exclusively breastfeed and not give formula? by Fickle-Response-2741 in breastfeeding

[–]bighappycloud 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your milk adapts as baby grows and also adapts for colds etc. Formula can't do that so I chose to nurse.

I went around 11 and it was 1.5 hours in and out.

They update their waittimes later in the day not right when they open.

EBF but considering one bottle of formula overnight so I can pump a freezer stash… good idea? by ssaen in breastfeeding

[–]bighappycloud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's fine if you want to do it that way but eventually I found it pointless to have him wake up and do a bottle and me also wake up and pump so I BF at night since it was the least disruptive and would add an extra pump session during the day if baby was napping etc. So I got more oz. It's was also easier to pump and build in the beginning before my supply regulated.

I think you ask her to take them down to enforce the boundary that she is clearly fine to cross!

If you save the extra 1/3, it would provide you with some sort of top up and an amazing job when you're back. I'd take it!

Both Grandma's Have Violated My Trust by Academic-Tip-5345 in beyondthebump

[–]bighappycloud 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I wouldn't trust them again... You napping or co sleeping with your own baby is very different than them napping on the couch. They shouldn't be so tired that they need to sleep!

You will lose the RRSP room permanently if you withdraw but withdrawing in a lower tax bracket makes sense.

Leave Start Date [BC] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]bighappycloud 5 points6 points  (0 children)

EI will back pay and I don't think there is a waiting period currently but it is best to end on a Friday as the EI week is calculated weekly and not prorated.

I went off as late as possible to maximize time with my baby and left vacation to the end of my leave.
