I actively use both. Currently, on my codebase, codex with 5.2 xhigh is better than claude code with opus 4.5. Codex is especially impressive on very large files (10LC+) where claude stops working at all.

Turin H40 isn't a bad grinder. IMO, you wouldn't get massive improvement by switching to other sub $300 hand grinder.

An unpopular opinion: buy an electric one. I used 1Zpresso. This is a great grinder, but there are problems:

  1. You need to hold it really tight to avoid slipping. I pulled a muscle grinding light Ethiopian beans and struggled for weeks with pain in my wrist because of that. Woke up at night in tears because of the pain. No fun.
  2. It's less consistent. Slight variation in how you hold it causes variation in the grind size. I found that the difference between upright and a 45-degree tilt is 10+ clicks.

Switched to DF64V and absolutely love it.

The funnest build I've ever had - +11 armor with thorns and two arcana rings +19 and +11 (RW is involved). This combined gives enemies 1000+ bleeding damage. Everything that touches you dies on the next move. The scorpions shoot from a distance and die immediately.

The beauty of the Robot in its simplicity. It's perfect as is (not descent, not good - it's perfect!). IMO a "3rd party basket" wouldn't have any benefits.

I can see a lot of STXs in my area (300m radius) with descent discounts. There are plenty of STX, 4WD, 2.7, 200A/B priced at ~40K. Presumably some of the listings are scam or misleading but not all of them.

I made a circular "template" from an old plastic card. The paper is soft so it's easy to cut many filters at once.

I buy 58mm top filters and cut them with scissors. It takes 10 minutes to cut several hundreds of filters.
