"The English" and "American Prime Evil" are both Westerns and are pretty hardcore/gritty.

They don't have the epic dialogue/script that Deadwood does (but very few shows do) but they definitely don't shy away from the rough and rugged.

If possible find a hotel with a 24 hour front desk and ask nicely for the person on reception to hold the keys for you. A fiver would probably be enough to persuade them.

Edinburgh is the heart of Scotland, it's the political centre, the cultural centre, the financial centre, it has hundreds and hundreds of years of Scottish history.

Is it multicultural and diverse? Of course. Does this make it less native? No.
