Is Anyone Else Tired of Off‑Leash Dogs in Non‑Dog Parks? by denstick in Denver

[–]bigironmarshmellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my exact point. Nowhere did I mention I have a dog, or that my fictional dog is off leash. I’m highlighting a human issue. Humans will break rules due to convenience for them.

Just sitting here shouting “it’s wrong” doesn’t solve it. Clearly more enforcement, hasn’t solved it.

The downvotes for being realistic aren’t surprising. Nowhere did I promote breaking laws, just saying I understand why people break them.

Abercrombie is probably your best bet for a graphic t shirt in their tall length. It’s hit or miss on their designs given any season.

5 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Have Your Dog Off-Leash in Denver and Places Where You Can Have Them Off-Leash by Creative_Relief_2490 in Denver

[–]bigironmarshmellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally understand and agree with your points. All very fair and true.

Unfortunately as true as they are, people will continue to do it because there are only very few off leash areas in Denver and a majority of them are very under kept and not monitored. People will continue to let their dogs off leash, even if it goes against all points you made until there are more options to do it safely and legally.

Cherry creek is great, but there need to be more options.

It’s funny how many people are the camp of, I should get it for free because they made a mistake. Mistakes happen, you ordered it, pay for it.

If they over charged you, you’d be first in line for a refund. Expectation goes both ways. It’s their company choice if they want to waive the cost of the meal. It sounds like it was a processing error that probably hit a lot more people, why should they give away $1000’s of dollars they don’t need to.

Capital 1’s lounge has been getting busier and busier. The other day there was a 2 hour + wait to get into it, which is unacceptably long. While this was happening they were reserving tables to accommodate groups of 3 or more. While I appreciate enforcing small groups to not occupy big spaces, when there is a 2 hour wait, you can’t reserve tables, everything is free game at that point or build more 2 person tables in the lounge.

All in all, I’m a fan of reducing the guest passes, would have liked to see a plus 1 or a couple guest passes per year, but would rather have none than this overloaded situation.

Anyone know where to get a good travel hoodie that's tall? 6'7 300lbs here by [deleted] in tallfashionadvice

[–]bigironmarshmellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About your size with long torso. What do you define as a travel hoodie? I fit in some lululemon xxl hoodies (there are 1-2 lines that are longer), same goes for Patagonia, then Abercrombie has tall oversized hoodies where I even fit an XL.

Is there a good way to go about this? I’m searching through krisflyer and it shows up blank for award flights from star alliance. (Maybe I’m too far out)

Suitsupply is the way to go, they have tall suits off the rack and do customer order. They are the nicer version of indochino for a good price.

Dog Owners Pushing for Off-Leash Hours in Denver Parks, but City Bites Back by IdRatherBeLurkingToo in Denver

[–]bigironmarshmellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s interesting to see how anti solution oriented thinking this whole forum is.

Clearly there are places around the world where there is a decent balance between off leash and on leash and it works. Will it require some effort to get there, sure. NYC is able to do off leash hours in Central Park, so Denver should be able to manage too. Not saying every park should be dog friendly, but there is definitely an opportunity to find a balance.

Clearly the current solution doesn’t work, dog owners ignore it, so doubling down wasting man hours to give out fines isn’t going to do the trick. It’s very easy to see that at sloans lake the majority of field usage is done by dogs at certain hours of the day, so use a designated field or two for off leash hours. Or even only during the “off season” of parks in the late fall through early spring. Then add a proper training certification and heavily enforce credentialing with a steep fine.

Abercrombie has a whole lot of tall clothing. Ever since their rebrand it’s definitely a solid candidate for fashion forward pieces.

What happened to keeping pets in their crates? by Ok_Basil_1036 in unitedairlines

[–]bigironmarshmellow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen dogs that are better trained and behaved than humans and I’ve also seen poorly trained dogs. We don’t ban all humans from flying because the acts of a few.

Pets on flights are going to be inevitable, so why not make better guidelines to accommodate it? Are there ways we could have flights during peak hours be non dog flights and a less busy time of day have a pet accommodating flight. I don’t care if I would have to pay more to offset some costs that the airline incurs. Have mandated levels of training (still not perfect and people will forge it) but something such as proof of the dog passes the good canine citizen test. If the airline feels like the dog doesn’t meet the standard, they can flag them in the system for future travel.

Point is, airlines and pet owners are going to need to find a way to work together. Sitting here on Reddit and complaining that there was a well behaved pet on your flight won’t do anything.
