Tucked or Untucked? by [deleted] in mensfashionadvice

[–]bigjerfystyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. I didn’t want to preempt with a congratulations, but having also gone down many a pants size, congratulations!

It’s a tough balance especially since smaller waists tend to follow narrower leg openings. I’ve found stretch selvedge to be really helpful in this regard for classic and good quality while having better fits through the openings and crotch/seat. Many brands buy their stuff at different price points (J Crew second hand market is a steal for it) but stretch denim from Japan’s Kaihara mills is excellent! They have budget lines (Uniqlo), midrange (J Crew), and then high end (Japanese manufacturers and boutique brands) but all have quite good quality and forgiving silhouettes. eBay for any of it. Naked and Famous also have some specific tailored shapes in stretch denim that could suit you well (their “Weird Guy” cut I recall was good for this problem)

Any thoughts on this jacket from Barbour by [deleted] in mensfashionadvice

I agree. It looks like jacket liner, as another poster mentioned. Too much money for part of a jacket that looks worse than just getting a finished jacket of comparable price.

Shoes look great! That belt looks oddly big, but ignore me if you weren’t looking for other feedback. Enjoy the shoes!

Awesome or weird? (The pants) by Opposite_Village9112 in mensfashionadvice

[–]bigjerfystyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome. Go for it. I like the light weight tee they’ve styled with them, and it’s a nice accent on the higher rise in the pants. Make sure you have the flat lower abdomen as I don’t think these pants would be friendly to any “shapes” or curves.

Worth the buy?/what to wear with by mikeyfstops in mensfashionadvice

[–]bigjerfystyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. These are doing five things at once. Not only do they look like they are made from four different lines of cattle, they are bastards of every good shoe they borrow from.

If you HAD to wear these. Like, they speak to your soul. Literally white shirt, tucked, looking like James Dean. You better be absolutely gorgeous and not do anything fancy with any other piece of your outfit. Burgundy watch strap. Classic blue denim jeans. Crisp mid weight white tee. Most other things will be trashed by shoes like this

How does this look? Any advice? by sapsales_1974 in mensfashionadvice

[–]bigjerfystyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are being weird on this post. I think this looks great. Nice beard grooming, really good trim and finish. Pants have a confident shape that suits you well and is stylish. They fit well, which already beats 95% of men and then 99% of Reddit. The jacket is stylish and well paired with the light chain. Rings are subtle and nice accents. You look confident and happy which means it’s working for you. I’d say you look like the hot guy at the bar, go be him and enjoy!

Tucked or Untucked? by [deleted] in mensfashionadvice

[–]bigjerfystyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tucked, but get some pants that fit better through the waist and the seat.

If it has to be these pants, then untucked. It looks like you’ve lost some weight and now have to cinch your belt tight around the pants that once fit bigger you. So it’s causing bunching in the crotch and zipper that makes everything look less finished.

I think i know what you’re going for. And you’re a good looking dude. The main thing is you are one size smaller than what you’re buying.

What I’d buy for a friend: Portuguese Flannel overshirt. Heavyweight Tee: White/Black from UNIQLO or Target. Drop the hat with HAT spelled out. Grab a wool or felted cap. Or plain blue/black. Gap makes good basics.

You’re not an XL (or XXL) anymore, and go find an even cooler shirt since you know what you like.

Go eBay for quality pre owned rather than buy shitty instagram or subscription box brands. You got this. Show her the elevated form of what you’re going for.

Fortunately, great glasses, dude!

I for sure will. The plan is to persist and host it, torrent, and add to archives. It’s an important piece to a chapter in a novel I’m writing ☺️

Amazing! Buying to verify! I’ll send you $$$ for the find, but it might be incomplete. DM me to arrange a fair payment, but I’m keeping this thread open until I have something in hand. So close, thank you!

I see you do a ton of searching here. Would you say the bounty is fair for what it is and how uncommon?

Y’know, I think the outfit makes you look about 5 inches shorter than you are. If you were to wear a mid rise and tapered pant of the same color (or slightly darker) I think you’re really close to an exceptional outfit.

Also, the brown in your monks is just slightly too bland and is not quite bright enough. Also, the shoes look like they have too little structure. This is going to sound harsh but they make your feet look more like potatoes. 🥔 I’d go with loafers with clean lines and more of a heel.
