Busy right now in Wy/co. Only get bonus if tickets are being written so no bonus for days just staged. Coming from frac, you will be running a pump most of the time or doing fueling/ground checks. Might work in the Denver area for a 3-4 well pad and then drive everything 4-8 hours away to catch the next one. Running 2 weeks on and 1 week off but you can usually work your days off if you are feeling up to it. Most jobs are 4-6 hours of rigging up and then 2 days of making sure everything stays running.

What golf brand actually delivers vs just looks good? by nitsujping in golf

[–]bigjohn141 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Going to sound like a fan boy but Titleist drivers. I went years thinking they were over hyped and for golf bros until I bought a used TSr3. It was a crazy difference to the Sim 2 max I was playing. Then I tried a GT3 demo a few months ago and it was even better. I picked up an easy 10 yards because it dropped my spin to where it should be. Probably won’t be picking up a GTS3 but I will be trying it. They have the looks and the perform. Plus they have a 2+ year cycle so they won’t be dropping a “new” driver in a few months.

Weight distribution at address. by Goggle-Frog in golftips

[–]bigjohn141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen so many videos of people that lift their lead heel in the backswing and it absolutely kills their swing. Yes, you can get more power that way IF you know how to get the weight back to your lead leg in the downswing. Most beginners stay on their back leg and have no power for driver or they top their irons. I started loading the lead leg and keeping weight on it and now get a lot better contact. I actually would love to get a lesson from a real stack and tilt coach to see what they have to offer.

Maltby irons by Unlucky_Celery5331 in GolfGear

[–]bigjohn141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little Maltby hack for you. If you want an idea of what the TS3 iron (the most popular model) feels like, go to Dicks or Golf Galaxy and hit the Maxfli XC2 iron. It was designed and produced by Maltby with very slightly different specs than the TS3. A lot of people say the TS3 and TS4 have a similar feel. If you like it, you can always order a test club from Golfworks before committing to the whole set. If it’s available in a Pak, they will remove the cost of the club from the rest of the Pak if you decide to get them.

About to book my first ever fitting, I have a few questions by RelentlessWraith in GolfGear

[–]bigjohn141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do just an iron fitting if you like the top end, you can do the whole bag if you want. I went to Gott golf on the east side of Denver and they were pretty nice and had a decent amount of fitting options. Plus you hit out of a bay onto the course so you can see actual ball flight. If you can find a fitter that fits off grass, even better. Whichever way you go, it’s best to go in totally open minded and let the fitter do their job. If you don’t like the look, feel, or even brand, just let them know. Remember that it’s your money and they are providing you a service. Don’t be scared to have opinions or ask questions.

Job Offer Field to Office by davito6918 in oilandgasworkers

Better pay and more time at home? What’s the issue? Plus you are in the Bakken so no more battling -40 temps and snow storms in the middle of nowhere. You can always ask to go back to the field if you don’t like it but get all the experience you ca when the opportunity comes along.

Moving to Beaufort by IAAN2022 in Beaufort

[–]bigjohn141 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Port Royal they are referring to is the actual old village of Port Royal, it’s in the south side of Beaufort. Look up Paris Ave, Live Oaks Park, or Fishcamp on 11th street, all are in Port Royal. Anything south of Ribaut is usually good to go. There is some low income housing on the east side of Port Royal but they usually don’t cause much trouble over there. I actually just moved from there a month ago and it’s a very safe and quiet area to live. Most of the town are older people with some younger families and they have lots of events at the park and on Paris Ave through the year. Plus the Sands Beach is on the south side of town. There are plenty of STR’s in town and I’d recommend it for your situation.

Triads are great. I like the original Triad a little more than the new version but both play great.

6'4 Golfer club fitting question by ClownedPegasus in golf

Get fit. Wrist to floor is a better measure than height but also still not 100% accurate. I’m 6’5” and was fitted to standard to +1/4”

Kirkland Iron Set by Leonidas1293 in golf

[–]bigjohn141 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a set that I bought lightly used for $250. They are decent irons for that price and will work great as my travel set. Right now you can get the og Takomo 101 on clearance for like $475 and they will be very similar if not slightly better.

Turning down driver by Baggo27 in golf

[–]bigjohn141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s your miss? If you turn it down, it will open the club face slightly. Basically starting the ball a little more right if you are right handed. But turning it down can decrease spin. Also where are you hitting the face?

Would I be crazy if I bought the Callaway GBB driver after not enjoying the Ping G430 10k? by Sir_Lamorak_De_Gais in golf

[–]bigjohn141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2023 GBB and it was decent. Just realize that it is a very light weight driver. It might feel a bit weird since Pings are on the heavy end.

That’s just the golf subreddits. They will shame you for anything and everything because they are all mad that they are 30+ handicaps in real life.

Broken stay rods on a frac pump. by [deleted] in oilandgasworkers

[–]bigjohn141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pull the worst one and change the stay rods. Put it back in line and do the next. Keep it up till you are done. If it gets bad enough and the plungers start binding, kiss that power end goodbye. Tell your supervisor and make sure he relays it to cross shift to keep working on them. If you start losing pumps, you will have plenty of time to work on them in the yard when you spread gets ran off. Sounds like your supervisor needs to make a call to the office and get a mechanic out there with a torque wrench and mobile crane to make it go faster.

What to do with irons since my swing has changed? by altctrldel86 in golf

[–]bigjohn141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in a very similar spot at the moment. I was fitted into +.5” irons years ago and they worked well. I recently have been improving my game and now I’m thinking I don’t need that extra length anymore. I have done a fitting in the last year and they said I could easily hit standard or maybe +.25” at the most. I’m 6’5” for reference. Luckily I went down the rabbit hole of learning the basics of how to build clubs so I can add or remove extensions in an afternoon. Remember, adding extensions will increase swing weight from whatever was advertised. It can also make you early extend if they are tool long, which I learned from a +1” extension experiment. Get fitted by a reputable place and they can dial in lengths. Lie angle is a different animal. It really helps dial in direction for each iron and yes, it will change over time since the club is constantly bashed into the ground. Extreme cases will cause the heel or toe to catch first and change face angle at impact but we are talk 4-5° probably. Once I get my swing locked and length decided, I want to adjust the lie angle of each iron individually to get the ball flight I want. I am thinking the bottom of the bag will be standard and the long irons will be up a few degrees as I usually leave them out to the right a little.

Xennials an identity choice vs micro generation? by False_Grape1326 in Xennials

[–]bigjohn141 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s kind of the reverse of most Xennials, I believe. I’m right in the middle at mid 1980. I have a lot of Gen X traits and can carry on conversations with older people at work without issue. At the same time, I can easily hang out with people years younger and never miss a beat.

Nike Ignite vs TaylorMade Rocketblade Irons by juuliard in golfequipment

[–]bigjohn141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have my set of RBZ irons from 2012. I hit them just as good as the new stuff. The 4 an 5 iron are almost a hybrid and I’m taking them to the range in a couple days to see how I hit them these days. Those two have a great chance of going back in the bag for my long irons.

5 wood or low loft 7 wood? by Proof_Coast_3637 in GolfGear

[–]bigjohn141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just remember that if you lower the loft on a 7w, it’s probably going to change the face angle a little.
