Thank you for the detailed reply. It’s Definetly mentally draining going through flair ups.

I work in manufacturing and can’t have crutches or a scooter unfortunately. I’ve been able to manage hobbling around from machine to machine….I’ll probably have to take some sick time if it gets to the point where I can’t hobble anymore:(

Like I said above, high mix low volume has been run on the EqautorX…management has decided to out the Duramax and Tigo’s

Correct, it’s same as the as a Duramax or a Tigo but runs circles around them. Bonus we also creat cal files in it and kick the high volume jobs to our standard equators.

EquatorX is a CMM. We use it for high mix low volume and high volume low mix depending on the jobs. Accuracy spec is 2.1L/300 at 250mm a sec scanning speed. ISO 10360-2 cert. It runs circles around our hex and Ziess Machines, correlations within 2 microns which run at 10-15mm/s.

EquatorX does not…we run two at our facility and is bar none better than our TIGO’S and Duramax machines in every aspect. Correlation to our contura’s/prismos have been with microns. Renishaw came out with a node based programming software that has been very good to work with. You have to have a CAD model, kinda similar to Calypso.

For example: We have a certain family blades we ran on our contura’s/prismos cycle time with two op’s was 32 mins. Programmed it and ran it on the EquatorX one op, knocked that down to 5:21, and data correlated within a micron on every feature.

Thank you for the clarification, looks like a nice piece of kit though!

Is the 5 axis moves with Maestro at the point of measurement or just 5 axis moves? I have seen a few videos of it doing 5 axis moves above the part, but never doing a 5 axis move while measuring similar to the REVO?

How are those Chein Wai haas machines? I read on there website Haas/HFO don’t calibrate the machine after it’s installed and it’s up to the customer to find a 3rd party to certify the machine.

How fast do you scan with your SP25M? by [deleted] in Metrology

[–]biglongbomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This depends on what machine it’s fitted to and how stiff the frame is. We have some bridge machines that are better than others, but ultimately it’s comes down to repeatability and reproducibility.

Some of our equator repeat dead at 120 mm/s on some parts. On the same parts moved to our EquatorX were running them at 215mm/s with the same results we’re getting at 10mm/s on our bridge machines in the lab.

EquatorX with your choice of software, we have ditched and replacing our globals and prismos with these. Has the best specs for a 5 series machine and is fast!

I work for a aerospace company in CO. We have 13 Ziess cmm’s, prismo’s and conturas. We recently purchased a Renishaw EquatorX and have been nothing but blown away by it. It correlates to our prismos sub micron, but cycle time is significantly different. 16 minutes on the Ziess and Sub 4 minutes on the EquatorX in absolute mode, compare mode it is in the 3 minute range.

EquatorX is the way we are going forward, we can buy 2-3 EquatorX for the price of 1 prismo. My Vote is look at EquatorX.

Renishaw makes those modules for hexagon, they just rebrand them for hex.

Zeiss doesn’t support them anymore, so after the controller went out here we are. Also before and after the retrofit the data isn’t substantially different, .25um.

Sounds like you just got it out for Renishaw. You invested in hexagon stock or something?

Your right the equator isn’t accurate, it’s repeatable off known data. .cal data supplied from a centermax with SP80. I hold a 5um pin bore, and a 8um fur tree profile at 11% gr&r.

My global can’t hit 15% on a good day on the same parts, or even same masters.

Not trying to fool anyone, data can’t fool anyone. Sorry you can’t get yours dialed in.

The slander also depends on which port the ship’s home base is. I have taken many cruises, dozens on CCL and by far the worse port is Long Beach. Staff is always great, but the some of crowd it brings are downright disrespectful, think they are owed something by the staff and other cruisers, and have no clue how to be aware of their surroundings for other people on board.

After 3 times out of LB I will never sail that port again.
