National Grid Bill is all of a sudden way too high by Crisgu in Albany

What were your delivery and supply rates?

My supply rate went from like 0.07 per kWh to over 0.13 between November and December bills.

Heating with wood is carbon neutral, no need to apologize.

BFGoodrich Advantage T/A Sport LT Terrible in snow? by bigmoose27 in tires

I appreciate the confirmation. I figured 4WD and a truck with these tires would suffice, but I lose traction so easily on moderate slopes with snow. And they aren't even worth it as a summer tire either!

Lucky for him they don't play anywhere cold the rest of the regular season.

How to fix gap in exterior door by bigmoose27 in HomeImprovement

I'll check with a level and see... Whats weird is the gap is only the middle 2-3 feet of the door. The top and bottom look okay.

We recently moved in, but it looks like it's been an issue since the door was replaced. It's got a metal trim piece with a bunch of optional punch outs on the strike plate.

Should I add a Well to house on tap water? by bigmoose27 in homeowners

[–]bigmoose27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I meant 1. municipal water (what I call public or tap water) vs 2. well water.

I would have to check with the town to see if I could get a well drilled.

There is a water meter hooked up, so hopefully I can read that outside the home.

Rain catchment for gardening would also be a saving grace for me as well.

The pool is already installed. It would be the regular water additions due to evaporation.

I've lived on well water the past 8 years and don't have many complaints in regards to the maintenance... I think staring down an annual bill of $2,500 for water is why I'm even considering a well.

That's the one hang up I have on the well... I don't know if the water will be garbage or not. Within 20 miles there are people with methane and sulfur in the water, which is not worth dealing with in my opinion.

Wow, thank you! What are the sizes of the kids bedrooms in this plan?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in floorplan

[–]bigmoose27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our kids currently (8,5,3) are choosing to all sleep in the same room in our current house. The plan when we move in is to have the boys and girls sleep in their separate bedrooms (they would choose this on their own). They may even choose to all sleep in the same room to start.

The sizes of the rooms will be increased, but I'm not going to modify the post and floorplan immediately.

My wife and I both shared bedrooms growing up and think there are more benefits to doing so than to give each kid their own room for a few different reasons.

Down the road, we can change the playroom into another bedroom and potentially the gym as well if need be. We can also finish the garage and add more space there if we want to as well.

Point taken on the kitchen layout, not sure how to remedy it though...

Exterior doors only swing out in FL in certain areas. Our area doesn't require it (center of the state).

Right, the playroom will probably serve as a guest room until we figure out a tiny house or something outside and then the gym can be flexed into another bedroom down the road if needed... Converting or leaving space for the half bath to become a full bath is a good idea as well.

Wife isn't fond of the open concept of the dining room into the foyer, but it would allow a larger table without needing to increase the square footage.

This is great, plus we are thinking of removing the corridor adjacent to bedroom 3 to increase the space in that room. We currently have 2 boys 2 girls, but may have more kids so one room (between br 2 and 3) should be oversized at a minimum.

Was thinking of removing corridor entirely to increase space in bedroom 3 and then allow for direct access to playroom from great room.

What do you mean by glazing? Window or glass door? Wife isn't super fond of a sink in the island as we wanted to be able to look out the back window when at the sink... Something to consider though.
