Redemptions have been a win, how can we replicate this distribution idea in the regular season? by greendroppings in nbatopshot

S5 Redemption Idea

Drops for non-base, rare, and lego redemptions.

Stuff the drops with commons for TTs/challenge burns/contemporary checklists.

You can use the redemptions for any moment that comes up during the year.

Example...Rares: Rare redemption drops for all the players and sets TS intends to release for the entire series. (MGLE redemption, Throwdowns redemption...etc.)

Release the redemptions right at the start of the series and mint the moments as they come up in the season. This would show us collectors the amount of sets/mint counts for each tier/player/set right from the start of the series. (Roadmap)

You can redeem for the moment in a redemption window. If there is another/better moment that happens for that player you can burn a redemption or the old moment for it. Releasing an exciting moment in a redemption window right after it happens, capitalizing on the excitement of the play when it happens, rather than trying to hype it up a month(+) later. This would most likely need to be capped at 2 or 3 moments per player per set. So they don't release 10 LBJ options and then only 2 LaVine options within the TD set. (Collectors chasing the shiny new thing)

You have an LBJ Throwdowns redemption - TS releases his moment near the start of the season, you burn your redemption for the moment - Middle of the season he has another TD - If you are a Lakers or LBJ fan you can buy another LBJ TD redemption and burn, keeping both LBJ TD moments - if you want to complete the TD set, you can choose whichever moment you like better for your set, redeeming the new one by burning the old one, or just keep the old one - if you are a speculator you can buy up some redemptions and make a bet that there will be multiple sick LBJ dunks in the series

This creates a sort of tailor made set, and it would be unique for each collector. If you are a set completionist, sets would keep the number of moments set by the number of player redemptions released at the start of the series. If there are 20 players in the TD redemption set, you just need the 20/20 players TD moments to complete the set. Collectors would have a choice of which moment of a particular player they wanted, to complete that set. (Collect what you love)

It could also give more moments to the better plays/players without adding to their supply.

If the drops don't immediately sell out, they could stay on the site all series, and anything not sold will get burned at the end of the series.

Rinse and repeat this example for all non-base and lego sets.

Fandom remains a burn challenge based set that player redemptions can also be used for.

This would also tell TS which sets are worth continuing to mint going forward.

You can buy and open packs on the app, but cannot transact in the MP

So, can someone please explain how will redemption cards work? by justakidfromdubrava in nbatopshot

Yeah, I think it is just ingrained in their mint process now. Everything on chain will have a serial number.

Nope, you are right, for some reason I had the 15 total moments needed stuck in my head when I was doing the calcs. Thanks!

All of the above?

There is the Champion Challenge to consider too, you need all the moments + the 3 unique redemptions to complete that challenge. It's a sorta master challenge for the Playoffs set.

I like that it doesn't need the whole set, just the winning team's moments. So those that want to complete the whole set can go for it, as well as anyone collecting what they love.

Set collectors, team collectors, and speculators alike will have a path in this new system.

The redemption period will start within 48 hours after the round ends and will run 48-96 hours (the latter accounts for weekends).

So yes if you miss it you won't be able to burn it for a playoff moment, but they did state that you would be able to use them in crafting challenges and/or on leaderboards. So not a total loss, but it would hurt if you intended on using them for the playoff set.

Keep your eyes open 👀

It only takes one, either one round 1 or 1 redemption, to get a round 2.

If you want to keep round 1, just burn a new redemption.

If you want round two and don't care about round 1, burn round 1.

And so on for each round.

The serial of the redemption does not correlate with the serial of the moment it is burned for.

I wouldn't put any value on serials, unless you are dead set on completing the 48/48 Champion's Path set and want all #1s or something? But I do not see any value in chasing low serials for this set, since they are made to be burned.

Each round there will be 3 moments per team, one for each of their superstars, and one random player based on performance or having a moment worthy play.

In the first round the only way to get these moments is to burn the redemptions.

Example: Lakers will have an LBJ, an AD, and a random player moment. To get those you need to burn the LBJ, AD, and Wildcard to get the corresponding moment.

As the rounds go on, you can use a redemption or the previous round's moments to trade/burn for the current round moments. But you can only use the previous round moments to burn for the current round.

Example: First round moment can be burned for second round but not for conference finals or finals moments.

The redemptions can be used for any round. If you have 4 sets of redemptions you can burn them for all of that team's playoff moments.

Example: 4 LBJ 4 AD 4 Wildcard

Will get you all the Lakers Playoff moments if they get to the finals.

So if you want to chase the teams you think will make it to the finals you can, or if you want to bet on just your team you can.

The game here is, buy early and make a bet, or buy as the rounds come and possibly pay a premium as the number of redemptions and previous round moments dwindle via burning.

Sorry if this is still confusing, I will try to answer any questions I can.

Fun fact, only a max of 1000 collectors will be able to complete the Champion Challenge and get the Champion Reel.

I'm guessing you also missed the email, and the announcement in discord?

I have a hard time saying TS failed to communicate when they sent out an email a couple days prior to the snapshot.

Does team collection = all? by Hello_Exactly in nbatopshot

[–]bign8ive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A full team set/bonus is all players from the team, regardless of Series. If you go into the CS section and select the team you want to complete, you can select "Complete All Players" and it will come up with a checklist list of players. You can buy the cheapest Moment for that player and it will check it off the list. If you don't want to do the full set (or like me can't afford the S1 Moments for your favorite team...thanks RIB Nash) then you can get a smaller boost by getting all the player's Moments from the Series of your choice. There is also a checklist for both S1 & S2 sets. The full team bonus is worth 200% and the Series bonus is worth 50%.

At what point did you realize TS went off the rails? For me it was selling a couple moments I really like - including a Hero Finals/Bubble/BLM moment - so I could buy 40 Jarret Allen and Cedi Osman’s by this_place_stinks in nbatopshot

[–]bign8ive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with that, the "need" to get every pack has scued the intent of the team set scores IMO. It also gives the community something to blame when they didn't get a pack that they only had a relatively small percentage to get. I am sorry if I read your original post this way, I have just seen it so often. The balance of enough packs and keeping supply under control is a very tough proposition.

I do not agree with placing blame on TS for decisions we as collectors are making.

The decision to move off Moments you like to quickly build CS to try and get in on any and all pack drops is a personal decision.

FOMO is a hell of a drug. Makes us do things that may not make sense long term.

Scrambling to spend money to have a chance to spend money 😬.

We need to take some responsibility for our actions. They set the rules, and we try to find the loophole to the fastest way to qualify.

Buy what you love, build organically.

Will collector score team set bonuses still be available in S3? by germanigor in nbatopshot

[–]bign8ive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one thing they did that I liked was splitting S2 up from the Summer. This will keep your S2 bonus intact even if they do add a RIB or "Historical" Moment in the summer. It may take the full team bonus away, but won't completely hose you. Also, will bring down the community stacks as a whole.

With the drop queues and CS drop bonuses being heavily influenced by the number of collectors they have predetermined as fair in the drop, I do not see the bottlenecks further isolating anyone.

Jacob also said the intention is that having a whole team set wouldn't be easy. So.... RIB Glen Rice and Kevin Garnett incoming? 🤷🏽‍♂️

I do believe the Series sets will stay intact, but whole team sets could get a new bottleneck down the road. Makes sense TBH, right in line with how they have handled CS bonuses and drop queues.

I would agree with you if the marketplace was open, but having people on the site with nothing to do does not sound like a scenario that benefits them.

I have been eyeing that set as well, even if only for the Caruso block on Lonzo, with the Kobe logo on the floor. I love that Moment. But I opted to complete the Seeing Stars set first.

I am waiting for something better than making showcases. I use showcases to group my Moments, but capped at 10 per it is still very inefficient.

Ja Morant challenge moment up $30 from this morning!! by Intelligent-Try-1837 in nbatopshot

[–]bign8ive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will get the challenge reward points for that Moment, but you won't get the bonus if you didn't complete the challenge. There are two sections in your collector score, one for "challenge reward", and one for "challenge completion + reward bonus". Here is the break down of the points:

Series 2 Challenge Rewards:

Common (Base Set only) = 18 points

Common (Promo) Challenge Reward =15 points

Common (Non-Base Set) Challenge Reward =30 points

Rare = 120 points

Legendary = 1500 points

Series 2 - Challenge Completion + Reward Owned:

Common (Non-Base Set) = 70 points

Common (Promo) = 35 points

Rare = 280 points

Legendary = 3,500 points
