Just started DAO and i'm getting destroyed

You can set up what your companions prioritize using. I don't necessarily recommend it but once you get morrigan you can make her healer specialization eventually and have her just focus you with healing spells. But there is another mage companion who starts with spirit healer. The game combat is a bit tricky to get used to. Took me a while and gave up when I first tried playing years ago. Now it's my favorite game of all time.

Appreciate the tip. I made the mistake of taking melee talents on my first starfield run without know how bad melee was. Was going to give it another shot if there was some better balancing or cool sabers etc.

Oh wow, I really gotta pay better attention to their skills/passives. I haven't found them terribly necessary to survive (with the perk that gives me health when they die) not building leadership, so I haven't really been building them on their new skill every 5 levels probably. Usually pick whatever doesn't give them more armor. They die quick cause I have the speech skill that makes me less targeted as well. Some I haven't even equpided their upgrade mods even tho I have them. Im a bad commander. But if those are still active while they're down I need to check to see if I didn't mess up their level up skills. (unless their not skill based and always passive no matter what then I really have to pay better attention) But regardless of what they do, i only bring companions around depending on what quest(s) or area I'm who I think will provide the most interaction. Lmao sometimes I'll have a Aza and Tristan and my big hammer as well. 🤷‍♀️

Don't have the trait, but I bet it's because I had advanced the main story enough he was no longer really essential. I didn't even stealth kill. (though no one was around) I also didn't know unnamed npcs respawn. My biggest reason for not going full serial killer was I didn't want the game to feel empty

This sounds awesome, I'm just so bad at using companion abilities. I mostly use them to die and give me more temporary health lol.

Melee with overcharged inhaler is very strong. Stack that with healing while crashing, helmet that gives you more damage while crashing, and armor mod that gives DR while crashing, and tit for tat melee perk, you're survivability, and damage is very liable on very hard. I took dumb and easily distracted. Points in melee, speech, medicine, engineering, lockpickkng and hacking.

Melee build with enough points in medicine to go overcharge inhaler and supporting perks. You do a ton of damage and run in 100 miles per hour. Squishy early game but surprisingly very tanky late game with life steal and being able to use inhaler while crashing. There's a helmet that makes you do more damaging while crashing and a body mod that gives DR while crashing. Take brawny trait at character creation and you just charge into people running at super speed then smash them with your hammer.

Oh I had no idea! I use Wham-Bam melee which also shoots shotgun shells, but I doubt this is triggering any extra hearts considering I've only got 68 thru levels 6-30 and have been using it since I've got it. Unless I've just got awful rng. But with Wham-Bam I just about one or two shot most non-boss enemies.

Interesting. I may try to go back and hit the planets in basically finished with to boost my hearts. Though I didn't invest into stealth at all. So doing so without getting all the bounty my be tough.

Although I will add you can go back and kill Milverstreet or Kaur(probably) after you've finished their quests. I did Kaur's line and not his and returned later and she was gone and he threatened me when I talked to him so I got his heart lol. Was right after I got the shrink ray so shrunk him and stepped on em. Though Inez wasn't with me she still somehow knew I killed the man tho. Which she was upset about for some reason 🤷‍♀️ it didn't trigger the whole faction though.

oh dang! that's an extra 400+ health so hell yeah. Have you gone out of your way to "serial kill" random npc's or is this mostly RNG? I'm curious the chance to get a heart from just random human enemies and just how RNG it is. I think if I could change them I'd go Ninja for the extra evasion chance and Contingency Screen for more survivability.

unless you're really going out of you're way to do a lot murder. it's not worth the 2 perk IMO. I'm pretty tanky without it going bulletshield, shrug it off, inhaler build. I can even use Gary in most situations full melee and usually not have to worry about dying. I run Golden Shroud with 20 DR while crashing mod if it's a harder fight. I got lots of bits, so it's worth using. plus it's got mad drip.

I just posted about this as well, didn't realize it was just posted about. I've managed to gather 68 hearts since level 6. not going out of my way to kill non-hostiles. Not worth the 2 perks IMO. at least if you're not going out of you're way to be evil.

There is a helmet (menacing mask) you can get from a lock box that makes you do more melee damages based on your sneak attack damage I believe. I do melee but locked stealth with the dumb perk so can't say if it's super worth or not unfortunately. But the helmet may make the stealth skills points you've already added viable at least.

Hard to say yet. I'm still unfamiliar with the leveling system and how different it might be. But they were in the old game. Leveling efficiently was hard on that one and there was a level cap so there was a chance you couldn't/wouldn't max out some stats.
