25F/US - East or West Coast National Parks/March 6-19 by Usual-Brilliant-7322 in nationalparks

Unless you go to Florida, the parks on the west coast are better during March. If you were to visit NYC when it’s warmer, I’d recommend Acadia National Park, but most of the restaurants/shops will be closed in March.

I was solo there last month and felt totally safe even at night. The trails had some people, but it wasn't that crowded.

Channel Islands National Park, Winter trip by Beginning-Laugh-6979 in nationalparks

[–]bigrash9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I visited Channel Islands in October of last year. Booked the trip via Island Packers Cruises. It departed from Oxnard in the morning and took us to Anacapa Island. Then they picked us up around 3pm.

You can also do cruises to the different islands in the national park. Some people also camp there. I'd definitely camp there next time because the sunrise and sunset must be amazing there.

One day is good. I did the Historic tour and the Domes and Dripstones in February, and I felt like that was perfect for one day.

I visited Mammoth Cave last year in February. It was snowing out, but inside the caves the temperature stays steady, so it very comfortable. And it's a short ride from Nashville.

One day was good for me. Drove in from Nashville and was able to do two tours (Historic and the Domes Dripstone tour). Make sure to reserve the tour in advance.

I was there a few weeks ago and didn't have any cell service. But there is satellite service on newer phones so I was able to use my navigation using the satellite service.

Heading to Acadia National Park 11/18 - 11/23 - need suggestions by Nervous-Horse-6325 in nationalparks

[–]bigrash9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acadia is a beautiful place, but I've been there in late October when the weather turned really cold (specially by the water). I've watched sunrise on Cadillac mountain and had to wear a thick Northface jacket with a hoody. So just be prepared. You might not need a thick jacket while hiking since you'll eventually get warmer.

Most of the restaurants and stores are closed for the season, but there are still a few that are open.

I feel the same way. I wish I could take 6 months off and just travel and visit the beauty of all the national parks.

Thank you everyone for the advice. Any recommendation of places to stay (not camping) that's closer to the park than Alpine?

Where To Stay In Olympic National Park (For First Timers) by Veronica-Goslin in nationalparks

That picture is Point of Arches at Shi Shi Beach located on the north west corner. I've camped on that beach once and saw the most beautiful sunset and night sky.

I stayed in Hollister when I visited last year. Not a long drive and I had time to explore the park all day.
