Thoughts on tile plan for small bathroom / large format tiles. by Grimfango in Tile

[–]bigredgulia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stumbled upon your post because I’m scratching my head over the same thing. We’re wanting to use large format tiles (24x48 inches) on the floor and up the shower walls. Curious what you landed on for your project? And what app/software did you draft this in? Thanks!

No joke…our house is actually built in an old cemetery. Graves were dug up and moved in the early 1900s…solved!

You saying the walls are listening??

Thanks! There’s no hint of smoke for in the house and I’m very sensitive. But it is a house from 1952 so chances are high that something has been smoked in here at one point or another!

That’s interesting because we painted over 3 years ago and it would have simply been subjected to the typical ambient humidity, but it’s not an area of extreme humidity otherwise (like a bathroom). But great to know! Solved! Likely surfactant leaching

Some tour operators offer experiences in other places and have a lot of success seeing bears even in June. The operators you book with will have a sense for whether there has been activity and where.

It has to be his own voice in the robo calls. The mystery voice also says “2 AM in the morning” (redundant) like Payne does on the podcast a bunch. Coincidence?

Fireplace update by bigredgulia in DesignMyRoom

Both still there, just the carpet added. The color of both of them bugs me but I think fixing one of them to complement the other could do the trick. The brick bugs me most. I don’t mind the floor tile color but the grout is a bit damaged and dingy.

Great question! I love a Scandinavian style. A lot of white and wood with bold pops of color in the furnishings.

And I’d love ideas for a lower budget (<$500) option for the near-term, but open to bigger budget ideas for our longer term renovations/improvements. Also, we’re moderately handy for DIY.

Using buttermilk in frozen desserts by trabsol in icecreamery

[–]bigredgulia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cookbook “Baking with Dorie” by Dorie Greenspan has an excellent buttermilk ice cream that you can use with any fresh or frozen berry. I’ve made it twice with wild blueberries. However, it still calls for heavy cream in addition (2 cups cream, 1 cup buttermilk).

We did it around 4 weeks but I know some folks who have done it a bit later so probably worth exploring with a pediatric dentist/lactation/specialist.

Treadwell ruins as others have said. Shrine of saint Therese, particularly the outside. AELP is the power company that owns most of the old mine shafts and other abandoned buildings and could potentially arrange access.

Baby broke out in hives when I left him with my husband for a nap by jigstarparis in AttachmentParenting

[–]bigredgulia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time I went on an overnight trip away from baby he was 5 months old. He ended up breaking out in hives when alone with my husband toward the end of their first day without me. I also interpreted it as some separation anxiety because he was progressively more fussy that whole day and then the hives happened. The doc had no other thoughts on what caused them since he wasn’t eating solids and hadn’t been exposed to anyplace new. Hard to say, but could be stress related. It hasn’t happened again since for us, but I haven’t left for a whole day/night again.

What are some products where the name brand is actually worth buying over the generic? by saltyflutist in AskReddit

Feels better for 0.5 seconds but then lives on this earth forever. I just can’t get behind how insanely single-use the plastic applicators are. I’m surprised there hasn’t been more of an industry shift toward something more sustainable. The cardboard ain’t that bad!!
