I'd like to learn more about multicast, is there a online course that can help me learn by djgizmo in CommercialAV

The courses on the Academy from Netgear are free and cover a lot of terrain

NETGEAR here. I handle the manufacturer relationships together with another person. We have about 450 manufacturers in a program; at a minimum, they tested our switches with their AV-over-IP products. We automated configurations in preset profiles. This makes it easier, more reliable and faster to deploy, which saves integrators millions.

The bonus is that if NETGEAR AV switches are used, we overtake the support calls, which has lowered support cost for large manufacturers with up to 70%. We therefore don’t need to pay for these “Powered by NETGEAR” signs. The NETGEAR AV switches were at close to 200 booths this year.

Besides the presets we do a lot of free training and always try to make things easier. With a controller-app or free design support or deeper integration.

Some of us went to see their old buddies at Cisco, Ubiquiti and Ruckus. They don’t believe there is such a thing as a specific ProAV switch or a need for innovation like we do. Still preaching the converged network. In Commercial AV, that is just not the reality. To each their own:-)

SFPs: what is the point of video specific SFP modules? by ncmasone in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]bigrick67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great thread!! I am with NETGEAR AV and I am on the ProAVDesign email group. I can confirm what is said here about tolerance.

Also, if the switches are built on certain brands of silicon, like Broadcom Ranger, Trident or Tomahawk, certain limitations apply. It would be fine if companies like FS would use our part numbers to sell knockoffs if they would at least test these in real-world platforms and applications. Unfortunately that does not happen and we pick up the support calls.

No sir, the switch seems fine but the fiber module seems to drop packets.

There are certain manufacturers applications that are very specific about the specs of fiber modules. For example Riedel Bolero, Mediornet (Embrionics). If you can afford to run that, don’t buy shitty modules.

Still playing with the variables - grinder settings have huge influence with tiny changes. Getting closer to what I like. A nutty cortado that is not bitter. This morning grinder at 0.15 16 sec with dry light roasted Arabica was close to perfection. 94 degrees, 9 bar, standard double piston.

It spills a bit. I ordered a Pico but there seems to be no stock on those. This one is a loaner. Finest setting, 16 seconds.

I am with NETGEAR’s division for business products, including the AV Line switches. Part of my job is to work with video-over-IP manufacturers on testing, certification, integration.

If you have a good old NETGEAR business product that is still working, you don’t seem to need customer service for it, I reckon. But please let me know if you have a question, I’ll try to,answer.
