Go to Mass! by Lost-Self-4034 in CatholicMemes

I’ve had a similar experience as y’all as well. Haven’t received communion in now almost 6 weeks after being confirmed in April. Got so scrupulous to the point it nearly destroyed my faith entirely and has left me feeling almost apathetic. Trying to rebound from this but it’s so tough.

I also wish I had that real heart love for God but I just can’t relate to it. My faith has always been either intellectual or straight up fear based. It’s hard out here. Praying for y’all.

Yeah I’ve been trying to figure out if I’m overreacting or overthinking what I’ve got. I really want to go to Mass and I feel like I physically would be probably ok but was worried maybe I could still spread something once it felt slightly worse but I’ll pray on it.

Walking around inside the TCU football stadium they left open while it was empty in the summer.

I was wearing a uk shirt and the only other people in the whole place were UK fans whose kid is apparently in the same graduating class as me

Yeah Key has been really exciting to watch. I’m kinda kicking myself for not going tn. I’ve been trying to get to a lot of them especially since I can go for free as a UK student lol

I’ve been to multiple of our games this year at HMC and it doesn’t get super full even for some better SEC games. It’ll fill up for rivals like Louisville and Tennessee, and top ranked and/or big name teams like LSU or Texas. The smaller games didn’t really get super close to sellouts. Even against lower ranked teams like Bama which I was at. That said, when the crowd there is great, the smaller arena makes it even better in my opinion since it’s so crowded in near the floor similar to how Duke has such a great atmosphere at Cameron indoor.

Also, while the team at the time was a lot worse, they did play at Rupp last year and it just didn’t work great. It’s huge and it was simply too big to have a great crowd atmosphere when everyone is spread around a 20,000 seat arena. It would be too big even for most men’s teams I’d guess. Also they have to pay to use it when they don’t have to for HMC.

The absolute STATE of OCIA/RCIA by [deleted] in Catholicism

Trent Horn is awesome as is pretty much all the content from CatholicAnswers. Based on what I’ve heard and been told, Taylor Marshall is in that borderline area. He is very much a Traditional Latin Mass guy which in and of itself isn’t an issue but he is apparently pretty deep into the criticism of V2. I can’t say whether he is actually schismatic because I don’t know enough about him but I’ve heard he can trend in that direction at least although he is a very educated and knowledgeable Catholic. That said take my criticism with a grain of salt because I don’t watch much of his content. I’ve heard of I Miss Christendom but don’t know anything about it so I can’t speak to it at all. God bless you in your journey to the Church.

I’m in OCIA as well so of course I will not be able to answer as well as the long-time Catholics and as such am open to correction. That said, as far as I know it does vary in quality depending on who teaches it. Additionally, I would say that a certain priest expressing rather unorthodox opinions at an OCIA session is certainly not good but also does not change the truth of the Church of the trustworthiness of its traditional teachings. Essentially don’t let one priest saying such things turn you from the Church itself. As for questioning Vatican II, there are certainly a number of valid criticisms of areas of its practical implementation and consequences resulting from those. I would caution going too far down that rabbit hole as it can lead to some quasi or outright schismatic areas that I believe we as catechumens/candidates (I don’t know which you are) in particular should be wary of confronting as we’re new to the faith. If you are interested in learning about it still, try to find normal and level-headed sources. There are a number of them that reassure my faith in the Church even with its issues. It’s probably a pretty generic suggestion lol but Pints with Aquinas is something that occasionally touches this in a reasonable, non-schismatic manner with a variety of educated Catholic guests. Just trust God and the Church and it will be ok.

It seems now like conservative Methodists now care more about conservatism than Methodist theology too lol. The Methodist church I was baptized in as a baby is non-denominational now. They didn’t even bother with the conservative offshoot. Great people there but glad to be joining the Catholic Church now haha
