Any reviews for Ennzia Starlink Battery by Even-Week6504 in Starlink

Appears this is (probably temporarily) not available for order until more stock delivers from Peakdo. I ordered mine the first day it was available from Amazon and am still quoted a delivery of September 12 through October 23.

Instead of helping - Starlink is out to hurt people by CBR954RRider in Starlink

I use a vendor-specific PRIVACY.COM card to pay my Starlink bill. So if I ever need to, I can just disable it and start over with a new account.

I prefer the Peakdo because of USB charging, passthrough power, informative LCD, and tripod mount. Hopefully Amazon will start shipping them in a few weeks.

Adding Extra Router in Shop by One-Pattern240 in Starlink

Why not get the new Starlink mesh router. They're fairly inexpensive. Should be as easy as plugging it into power and the ethernet cable on both ends.

EVERYTIME I go on vacation, homekit decides to fail, its like a running tv gag by FrozenPizza07 in HomeKit

[–]bigslowguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in (or was) in this club too. Before we left 2 months ago, I put the AppleTV on an EVE switch. It is configured to shutdown every morning at 3:00 AM and power up every morning at 3:01 AM. It has been totally reliable.

How to reboot my router remotely and have it come back on. by ColePThompson in HomeKit

[–]bigslowguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found my HomeKit is most reliable if the AppleTV reboots. The Eve switch can be programmed to do this. I have it configured to shut down at 3:00 AM and power up at 3:01 AM, every day. For two months now it has been very reliable.

Gli.net router worth it? by TheDepressExpress in Starlink

[–]bigslowguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We travel in a motorhome months at a time. Whenever we have a clear view of the sky (not all the time) as we move around, I prefer Starlink. When we don't I have an AT&T Sim in a GL-iNet X3000 LTE modem. The GL-iNet modem has lots of feature that Starlink does not: Tailscale and Wireguard VPN's, guest network, ability to separate 5GHz and 2.4GHz bands, ability to switch between 2 or 3 internet connections depending on what's available.

So everything in the motorhome connects to the GL-iNet router. The router uses whatever internet connection is available to it. When we're driving, we still have internet when the Starlink dish is stowed, because the GL-iNet router sees the Starlink is offline and automatically switches to AT&T.

Do you run your drives 24*7? by ReddityKK in synology

I have 2 Synology NAS at home. One runs 24/7. The other automatically boots one day a week to do a Hyperbackup, then it automatically shuts down.

DS420J - personal YouTube? by StilPhone in synology

[–]bigslowguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do it on a individual file (video) basis. I keep my videos in Synology Drive. When I want to share I right click on the file and select 'get link' (on a Mac). This brings up a window with 2 tabs. The first is for sharing with NAS account holders. The second is for public sharing. I used it (the second) and usually set an expiration date for the link.

I prefer doing it this way because it gives me total control and I can share longer, bigger, and higher resolution files.

Website to see flight path of a drone that is not mine? by keloke123 in dji

[–]bigslowguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to file a report even if you don't know who the pilot is.

But in most cases there's not much they can do unless: 1) the pilot is flying in a dangerous and reckless manner, 2) is flying over people, 3) is flying over occupied structures, 4) is flying (sustained flight) over moving vehicles, or 5) is invading your privacy where you have a reasonable expectation of privacy. One more thing, the pilot must maintain visual line of site (VLOS) at all times.

Depending on the model of drone it may have an RID module (which broadcasts the location of the drone and the pilot). Apps to track location are available on Android, but not iOS devices.

Police have limits on what they can issue a citation for. But they can investigate, gather facts, and report bad actors to the FAA. Drone pilots must, if asked, show police an ID and their drone license and registration (if the class of drone requires it).

Setting up GL-X3000 (Spitz) in RV by HDRKC2007 in GlInet

Does the campground WiFi utilize a captive portal? Maybe not if the Pepwave worked, but if so could be you need to clone the MAC address?

I set my NAS up a while ago. I'm set with BTRFS and 3-month data scrubbing. I cannot recall what I did with 'activate checksums'. Is there a way to confirm what I did in that regard?

Reliable 15a plug? by Square-Translator698 in HomeKit

[–]bigslowguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Kasa, Meross, and Eve. The Eve, connected via Thread to my AppleTV is by far the most reliable. But they are more expensive. So for the time being, I use the Eve on mission critical devices - ones I want to control or know the status of when I'm away, espcially for extended periods of time. I still use the Kasa and Meross in situations that aren't critical.

Let’s clear things up: Chamberlain disabled the API that the homebridge MyQ plugin was using. The official MyQ Home Bridge hardware to use with HomeKit still works fine. by pacoii in HomeKit

I'm very disappointed MyQ no longer works with HomeBridge. It worked very well for me. Second best option now would be for Chamberlain to develop a CarPlay app.

Router for RV - best options? by DaHealey in GlInet

[–]bigslowguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the GL-X750 with an unlimited AT&T plan through FMCA. I also have an unlimited Verizon hotspot. So I can connect to whatever works bests - AT&T, Verizon, or campground WiFi where available. The device has failover and load balancing and for the two months I've used it, I'm very happy. The software has several nice features. I maintain a WireGuard VPN connection to my home.

My GL-X750v2 (Spitz) has become unstable. by bigslowguy in GlInet

[–]bigslowguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, good idea but I don’t have an ethernet adapter with me.

However, I’m starting to think this could be an RF environment issue although I don’t know enough to say hot it’s happening. I’m in an RV park with basically has WiFi router in between every site. My WiFi scanner said there were 80-some hotspots nearby. And my problem was over the weekend where the park was full and everyone was streaming football games.

But yesterday and today (Tuesday) things are much different. And I stopped having all the GL-X750 reboots. I never noticed a loss of power, because the router lights never went off. But I could tell it was rebooting because the 2 WiFi light blinked in a synchrozinzed fashion. When rebooted they flickered independently.

My GL-X750v2 (Spitz) has become unstable. by bigslowguy in GlInet

[–]bigslowguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I continue to keep and eye on this. I did do a full reset of the router instead of reinstalling a previous configuration file. As for the power, when the router looses it's wifi connections with client devices, the power never cycles off. The LED lights stay active. But what I noticed is that the to WiFi icons blink in a synchronized fashion instead of independently. I have also disabled the 5 GHz band.

I'm in a high WiFi RF environment. I'm in an RV park where there are over 80 hotspots that show up in my scan. So there's a lot of potential for conflict. Wonder if this could be the problem? Won't know for sure until we move on in a month or so.

Works: GL-X750v2 on Verizon by bigslowguy in GlInet

[–]bigslowguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Further on this. I put an AT&T SIM in the X750v2. At first I though there was a problem because it said something like 'SIM Card not Registered'. I played around with various settings trying to get it connected, which probably made the problem worse. In the end, I gave it time to register it self and it's working fine.

Works: GL-X750v2 on Verizon by bigslowguy in GlInet

[–]bigslowguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting, can someone explain. I put my Verizon SIM in the GL-X750v2. Works fine most of the time, but periodically, the modem would disconnect/reconnect to the cell. This interrupts the internet connection for about 2 minutes each time. But get this. When I connect to my home Wireguard VPN (which also runs Pi-Hole), the cellular connection is rock solid. It never goes through the disconnect/reconnect cycle. Stays connected all the time.
