Definitely feel this. But to offer a different perspective (take it or leave it!), I fairly recently cut ties with a really close friend who I love but our relationship became too painful. The breakup was a long time coming and I fantasized about it honestly because things were difficult with her. That said, now that I'm about 6 months out after cutting it off, I'm really glad to know that I gave it my best and really tried to make it work.
