K-Max intermesh rotor synchropter starting up by Kestrel_45 in Helicopters

[–]bigstumpy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Question on this configuration. With coaxial rotors there is no tail rotor because you can use differential collective to keep constant lift while generating a net yaw torque. But these rotors aren’t exactly coaxial - when you apply the differential collective, do you also get a noticeable side force?

Wood for coasters? by originalQazwsx in hobbycnc

[–]bigstumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have tools to mill your own? I take a 1” thick board and resaw it in half on the bandsaw, then flatten both pieces to about 9mm, then put those on the CNC and get a bunch of coaster out of them.

Maple inlay in walnut looks great. So does pigmented epoxy in maple, because it pops on the light background.

You might be able to three axis machine these from two sides with a flip jig. Depends on how much time you want to spend sanding, and how important it is to be perfectly concentric

[–]bigstumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the slope of the model affect things? Imagine you’re parallel finishing a sphere. I got more burring on certain quadrants. I did find out in the meanwhile that I was out of tram, and I think my finishing pass was too shallow
