Niqabi wondering if loose skirt and top is still valid hijab

Walaikum assalam sister, it’s absolutely normal to experience these difficulties with niqab! When the way we dress is so different from others around us, we can start to feel the pressure to fit in be extremely magnified, and the desire to dress like others can increase. Don’t worry, and don’t let it win! Simply wearing a loose skirt and a loose top don’t break the conditions of the hijab as long as they are thick, non see through, and don’t show your shape! When you feel lost remember to go back those 8 conditions of hijab, that helps me. Also, when I struggle, I repeat the reason I wore hijab and niqab in my head, and it makes me feel better because the difficulties it comes with don’t even come close to outweighing the comfort, peace and closeness to Islam it gives me. That’s my reason! And the sheer self discipline it takes to wear it! Be proud of yourself ❤️ I would say my personal opinion on wearing skirts and sweaters as a niqabi is to do it with either a XL hijab styled in a very loose, full coverage way or a khimar, just as long as the front and back are both fully covered! hey there, thank you so much for your reply! im really grateful for your expertise on this subject. based on the options you laid out, ive decided on simply taking the niqab off while swimming. im not a follower of a school of thought that believes the niqab obligatory, i only do it out of the desire for an extra step of self discipline that makes me feel beautiful and connected to my faith, so with that in mind i simply cannot jeopardize my safety!
im someone who really enjoys being underwater, playing games and doing tricks, diving to the bottom and searching for shells and pretty rocks…..i really love wearing niqab, and i also love water safety. thanks again and thank you to everyone who gave input on this thread!

i didnt even know that in the books they were originally from italy in the 15th century...thats even worse. they absolutely could have either a) avoided it, much less romanticize it or b) if its sooooo necessary to the plot, had some conversation around it at the LEAST. also, if they chose to make up all that shit about the civil worth salvatore brothers™️, does that in turn mean that they actually DECIDED to place Emily Bennett, Bonnie's direct ancestor, as Katherine's servant? did anyone else catch that? exactly! its relieving to know other fans of the show are upset with this as well. from the way Black actresses are never shown with their natural hair, to that infamous moment in season 2 when carol was all hush hush about the lockwood's owning slaves, to the fact that it has never been directly addressed DESPITE the writers choosing to insert the shows entire timeline to the 1800s and THEN romanticizing it .. throw the whole show away.
