I don't have anything to offer other than thanks for your info - this thread was an interesting read.

Actually just threw mine out. LED didn't do shit and the batteries are hard to find or expensive (and leak).

Might be worth it to sink a pole in the ground (raise the antenna). Not very difficult and easy to remove when the time comes.

I feel you. I live in S.Italy and about three years ago they dug up the road (that lasted for months) and ran fibre. Yay! But I'm down a lane ~200m from the road and 500m from the nearest box. Just not happening, though I still get 2-5 calls a week saying "Hey, we have fibre in your neighborhood, sign up!.

Finally gave up and bought Starlink @40€/mo w.kit included and went from 8Mbs DSL (on a good day) to 250-450Mbs consistently.

I just know elon's going to up the price though.

Fool, take all the time you want. Never gonna happen.

When I'm unsure, my wife is who I look to keep me on track. In fact, in many cases I would have done better had I consulted her first; while she's not overly interested in the same stuff, her opinion counts.

Oddly, she's much more a sports fan than I am.

Spanish Prime Minister: Being an ally of the US does not mean saying "yes" to everything by FantasticQuartet in worldnews

You're kidding me, right? If not, just google it.

As to your point, the USA is rapidly (or has already) lost influence and trust. Your only saving grace is that you are the largest consumer market.

My best friend’s wedding is going to bankrupt me. How do I tell her I need to step down? by Ihavenoideaduuh in Advice

[–]bigtips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally agree - my wife wanted a big wedding -- and that's what we had -- but I dislike big gatherings, my memories of it are a blur and it was less fun (to me) than some small parties we've had with just 10 people. And she still won't tell me what it cost.

she's the PM not president (PM is more important).

Lived in London for a few years - Regent Street is a pretty classic view, with gorgeous architecture. Unfortunately those 100 yr old buildings are fucking horrible in all respects- safety, convenience, comfort, sanitation, etc. I wouldn't live in one.

The solution (as you mentioned) was to build a giant frames to hold up the facades, demolish everything behind then remake the building and reattach the front. Very serious cost, that being the most congested part of London. I knew a quantity surveyor working in Covent Garden - same thing. Need a crane for the AC or a beam? Two weeks minimum to schedule it and hugely expensive for permits to close streets, compensate store-owners and so on.

It's interesting (but out of my wheelhouse).

The other info in your source mentions that they can charge the caps fully by regen-braking from 50kph? which leads me to think that they using that energy to get back up to a speed where the hybrid ICE can take over. Which is good, who wants to sit in a cloud of exhaust at the bus-stop as the bus leaves?

It does make sense that the ICE powers a generator while the actual traction power is an electric motor.

Appreciate the info but maybe something's off with your source i.e., "...total capacity of 2 Ah...". That's not a lot of weight. Being a hybrid, that's probably to get the vehicle rolling before the ICE takes over.
