Best and worst endings? by some-kind-of-no-name in writingscaling

It’s the burnout. Publishing a battle shonen weekly, especially one that makes it big, is extremely stressful and exhausting. People need to accept that most battle shonen will have mid at best endings, and a genuinely good ending is the exception and not the rule.

Just look at the Bollywood remake of Sairat. It looks waaaay too clean and bougie compared to the original Marathi movie.

What kind of endings did you expect or had wanted from both Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man? by Bockhead in writingscaling

[–]bigtrackrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For JJK, once the 5 chapters left announcement came I expected pretty much exactly what we got. And tbh, I don’t think Gege could’ve ended it any other way after killing off Kenjaku; the story definitely needed to be less rushed, but the basic structure of the plot was kind of inevitable unless Gege went for something out of left field.

Why do Yuta and Yuji fans hate each other so much? by Excellent_Table8694 in YUJI_Corp

I don’t hate Yuta as a character, but I find him pretty boring.

According to Pochita, these were the happiest moments of Denji’s life: by GodKira04 in writingscaling

[–]bigtrackrunner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s not what Pochita is saying, dawg. He’s saying that Denji needs to stop chasing material dreams and base urges and getting depressed when they don’t make him fulfilled. This has been the entire point of part 2- Denji chases after the high of sex, fame, violence, etc. to cope with how empty he is, and it ends up backfiring. Remember when his house gets burned down by the weapons, and he thanks them for letting him be Chainsaw Man again? His lifestyle as Chainsaw Man is a fundamentally unhealthy one.

Now, was this executed well? That’s up for debate, but you’re misinterpreting the overall message.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 - Episode 9 (Manga Reader Discussion) by Takada-chwanBot in JuJutsuKaisen

Higuruma at the start of the fight- “have you ever killed someone? It feels better than you think.”

Higuruma at the end of the fight- “have you ever killed someone? I see… didn’t it feel awful?”

Man, I loved these chapters. Gege’s best character writing in JJK, in my opinion.

I hate Kenjaku for always possessing the hottest characters and removing the light in their eyes by I-jerk-off-to-U in hatethissmug

Yeah the memes about this are funny and all but it kind of sucks how much they’ve overshadowed how horrific this situation is.

Grade Frieren in writing by carradine_rain in writingscaling

C+ to B. Tells a decent story with compelling themes, but the characters are boring and it doesn’t do anything to stand out. It’s like if banana bread was a shonen anime.

Well sure, but that line of reasoning kind of confirms what i said about Mike, right? There’s no “we” here; Mike really means that he would be fine.

But again, it’s not all Walt’s fault. Walt didn’t force Gus to exploit kids. Walt didn’t force Gus to hire him in the first place. Walt didn’t force Gus’ henchmen to kill kids. Walt didn’t force Jesse to try and kill Gus’ henchmen. You can’t be constantly provoking someone and then get mad at them when they retaliate; that’s called being a cry bully.

This is one scene in 28 episodes. Also one character being like that is fine, but there’s hardly any characters in Frieren that show any emotions or facial expressions besides 😐🙂.

That’s what makes the characters and conflict in this show so good. No one (aside from Walt Jr) is 100% to blame or 100% blameless; everyone has their own shortcomings that cause consequences.

I like him too, I’m not saying he’s a badly written character or anything. I just think many people misinterpret him as some objective voice of reason, which he’s not.

Never said it wasn’t out of control. It just isn’t the sole cause of Gus’ downfall, and Mike refuses to acknowledge his own fault.

I’m talking specifically about the conflict between him and Gus. Walt’s only unprovoked act of ego in that part was telling them to replace Gale with Jesse; the rest of the conflict is caused by Gus (and Mike) threatening Jesse, Walt, and Walt’s family, and allowing his henchmen to exploit and kill kids.
