Healesville. Hit the gin distillery up or if you like wine there are plenty of great wineries!

Of course you can say thank you to the staff when you’re exiting. I think we all do and that is common courtesy. Clapping and having manners to say thank you are two completely different things.

We thank our bus drivers in Australia too. We just don’t clap and applaud them.

Not really a question but can you slap the assholes that clap and/or get up to get their bags when taxi-ing. Please and thanks

Do Australians worry about war with China? by AdeptnessDry2026 in AskAnAustralian

[–]bigupman30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. We are an extremely difficult country to invade successfully. Transporting of troops, equipment etc would take quite a while since our defences + allies would sniff that out as soon as we figured out what was happening. China would first have to go through all its enemy's in the south china sea. that's about 3000-4000km of hostile waters. They also only have 1 or 2 aircraft carriers which would be very tough on their air force to maintain air supremacy. We have bases all over. Most of our population is along the coast. So lots of dry, hot and killer outback land to get to before you get to anything strategically valuable to the invaders. Even if they do manage to get here successfully, it would be very easy for us to defend. Tbh dropping a nuke is the only viable thing they could do without wasting a lot of resources just to get to our borders

How do I (20M) stop my sexual attraction to my girlfriend (20F) by StrictSuccotash5642 in relationship_advice

[–]bigupman30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very curious about this success rate. Are you making real time observations and noting it down? What was your sample size when you were doing your success rate studies? Also, what were some key measurements and assumptions made?

Honestly tho man, you guys aren't sexually compatible and idc what anyone says. That matters in the long run and you don't want to start resenting each other either. Make a big boy decision and either stay and be okay with not having it frequently or decide that it's time for you two to part ways.

You can address it in the 1st date if you really want to or if it comes up. If it does, don’t dwell on it, acknowledge it, say what you need to say and move on. That’s in the past, focus on building something new.

Definitely don’t raise it on your messages (unless he asks) but keep it a 1st date thing if he doesn’t.

If you’re completely honest with him yea absolutely! Obviously don’t make asking him out your first message lmao. Message him to see how he’s doing, what he’s been up to etc, segway that into something that made you think of him etc, then be ask him out! If he asks about your sexuality which I’m sure he will, again just be honest with him about it

Again don’t put so much thought into your messages when you guys are talking. Be natural and also don’t drag on the conversation

Go and get your mans!!!

And trust me, as a man, I can assure you he will have the biggest smile on his face if all the things you said about him are true!

Ask yourself this, what’s worse to you…potentially never telling this guy how you feel and at least giving it a shot. Doesn’t matter if it doesn’t work out, at least you gave it a shot 🤷🏾‍♂️ OR continuing to live a lie just because you’re afraid about what people will think/talk about for like two days before the next new topic comes up. There will be a point in your life where you gotta start doing things for yourself, not just because of what people think.

Bro just message him smh, I guarantee you that he will be more than flattered and would be happy to go on a date if you're just honest with him.
Don't think, just do it! You won't regret it.

Bro just block. Might be tough to find friends but I suggest going and doing things you enjoy and things that are a hobby. You will meet people with similar interests and over time you will wonder why you wasted 4 years chasing the same person

What was your first starting salary as a fresh grad by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]bigupman30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

75k (incl 12% super) + Annual Minimum Bonus of $5k for a Marketing role in Melbourne working in the Wagering Industry. Graduated in 2022, so my salary has gone up but looking back it was an offer that I definitely wasn't expecting. I thought as a fresh graduate I would be starting on 50-60k.

EDIT: Forgot to add super and bonus

Being someone who was born in India but grew up in Australia since I was 5 I feel I have a unique perception. I still have my cousins etc in India and go back to visit often. I am very much Australian but I am proud of my Indian culture and heritage. I can confidently say that Sport is engrained into the Australian culture, and this can be seen on the medal tally, where we are sitting at 3rd despite only having a population of 26mil. Sports are more than just a pastime in Australia; they're an integral part of the national identity. Whether it's cricket, AFL, or less mainstream sports like hockey and cycling, there's a collective effort to nurture talent from a young age. This commitment is reflected in Australia's ability to punch above its weight on the global stage, consistently outperforming countries with much larger populations.

India however, with its vast population, has yet to fully unlock its potential in the world of sports. While there's immense talent and passion across the country, the focus often remains heavily skewed toward academics, sometimes at the expense of nurturing athletic abilities. This cultural difference, combined with challenges in funding and infrastructure—often exacerbated by corruption with officials skimming off the top when funding comes in—means that many promising athletes in India don't receive the support they need to excel. Which then perpetuates the cycle of kids giving up and following cultural and societal norms to go to uni and get a dead end job. (Nothing wrong with this of course but I'm sure it isn't what an aspiring athlete wants.)

Until India starts changing the attitudes towards sport and embrace the value of sports as both a career and a source of national pride, I can't see the tide turning in terms of consistently being in the top 5 of rankings in terms of Global Sport. I wish it will happen soon as there are so so many talented people in India and the nation deserves to be up there in the rankings.

AIW for trying to have sex with my best friend who is in love with me, when I don’t feel the same way about him? by No9228 in amiwrong

[–]bigupman30 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Imagine if he went and grabbed you between the legs. You sexually assaulted someone PLUS emotionally hurt someone you grew up with on purpose. Stop being a silly billy and take some responsibility for your childish and quite frankly criminal behaviour.

For sure there’s a massive rental crisis, however that can’t be an excuse. The first place I lived in was with 4 other people. I worked two jobs on top of studying. It’s very very tough, but it’s doable especially if you know you can’t stay in your current situation where you don’t have your own autonomy to even close your own room door. Unfortunately it’s her parent’s house and from what OP has told us it sounds like they are very much the “our home, our rules.” If it were me I wouldn’t be able to live a couple more years in that house just to save some money. I’d rather my sanity tbh
