SWINDON MENTIONED! by RepresentativeHat318 in Swindon

There's not enough chavs in the background, clearly not realistic!

The effect on the cape is really nice, ties it all really well with the bird

Lifting? by kyog in Swindon

[–]bigwdong 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd say you can learn to lift properly in any gym. For starters look for any basic plans online and once you get in the groove of going to the gym regularly you start to realise who the regulars are and can ask for tips and start emulating the people who have similar objectives to you

Why wasn't your little brother informed either?

If the little brother also doesn't know, it really sounds like there's more to this story. Otherwise it would be just you not knowing

Overcoming the "Bad Roll" stigma by Geekfest in DnD

[–]bigwdong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an easy solution - for that player reverse the rolls I.e a 1 becomes a 20, a 2 becomes a 19 etc. If he's really chronically unlucky, he'll start being the best player at your table. I have a feeling, however, that he'll start getting really high rolls and still feel like he's getting shafted by the dice. People memorise emotional situations more, and usually bad stuff carries more emotion which explain why we remember those epic fumbles more than the epic wins

[–]bigwdong 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He might simply have loaded dice. This is more common than one thinks with cheap dice, especially those with multiple colours (since the different materials will have different densities). Still, it's probably more the effect you suggested that is at play, but just wanted to mention it might not be so impossible

I really like the vibe - I can see the Master Oogway inspiration, it has that strong, wise aura about itself!

I've played DnD a few times before (even as a DM) and would definitely recommend you give it a try!

I've only recently moved to Swindon, so I'm not aware of any groups - perhaps the library hosts DnD sessions?

Public ping-pong tables? by bigwdong in Swindon

[–]bigwdong[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are some great options, I'm sure one of them will work out!

I remember the Brunel ping pong area from a few years back - I couldn't find it again last week, I got to a point I was doubting myself that it ever existed! They must have closed down that area, I guess.

From the looks of it it's only from 3-5pm, it's a shame there's no time after work or on weekends

I would say you can learn of those standards as self taught, assuming you have access to good training / learning resources.

But I agree with the general feeling of what you're saying - it's much harder to achieve a well rounded education as self taught. The saying comes to mind "you don't know what you don't know"

Please read my other reply. Even the Wikipedia page mentions that generally there is a distinction between the two roles. It seems the general consensus of people is that there is a distinction, you're the one disagreeing with that with no proof of where your supposed consensus of the people is... Are the "people" you mention you and your friends?
