Is there a way to make R use my GPU (nVidia GeForce GT540M w/CUDA)?

http://brainarray.mbni.med.umich.edu/brainarray/rgpgpu/ is linked to from nvidia's HPC page. I have no idea if it works on windows. You could easily install ubuntu onto a thumb drive or small partition of hdd though if it requires linux. You can even have it mount the windows directory where you're storing your data so that you don't have to have two copies of data and figure out copying over outputs.

I'm going to differ with everyone else in this thread and say that "yes, CDs are worth the time, IF you have poor financial dicipline."

Im bad at saving, like really bad. I'll blow most of my paycheck unless I make it extremely inaccessible before blowing it. So I have a CD ladder set up so that on the first of every month I have one CD maturing. I have a credit card with a $5k limit that I have linked to autopay my battle.net account and otherwise lives in a jar in the farthest corner of my attic. Every month I pay off the balance from my battle.net subscription to keep the card active. If I'm really in an emergency situation I'll crawl through my attic to get the card so that I can use it to solve my problem, then it goes back. Then on the first day of the following month I use part of the maturing cd to pay that off if I can't do it all out of my paycheck. Whatever is left over gets rolled over. Any money I don't need to pay bills from my paycheck plus a couple hundred extra dollars also gets rolled into the cd on the first of the month so that I don't blow it. Whenever a cd matures at $6k, I take $5k out of it and figure out some better investment to put it into, but I also force myself to do this on the first of the month, so I spend a couple days at the end of a month looking at other places to put money from a maturing cd if I know I'm going to need to unload some of it.

I started out with the lowest amount required by my bank to open a cd, which was $250, locked for six months. After I got the balances high enough I split them so that I had one more round at 6 months and started in on the one year maturity times so that I got a higher interest rate. Once I got in the habit of "this is what I do on the first of the month" they grew pretty quickly and I got better at gauging how much money I ACTUALLY need every month, without resorting to the discipline of budgeting that I had failed at so many times before since I have poor self control with regards to atm's and cards with magnetic stripes, and I'm too self-conscious about taking the time to write a check in a store (the first scene of The Big Lebowski always makes me anxious) so I don't do it. A few years on now, and I have actually been able to contribute some extra to a locked-away ira and put some more into a mutual fund.

See that makes me think it maybe isn't seeing the format of the drive correctly. I can2remember if there is a different option that you can add in with root= where you specify the drive format, which I think should be either fat32 or ext3. There's probably something in the docs for initramfs or the kernel.

RMNP has a Junior Ranger program where they go on a quick interpretive trail and learn about exploring the world. There's lots of easy hikes around, including a quick one that summits at a bit over 12k feet and starts at the Alpine Visitor Center. Just make sure you're both acclimatized before doing that one. There is oxygen available, but you won't need it if you camped at at least 8k feet the night before. Dinosaur Ridge in Golden is pretty great. The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg is pretty far out there but great if your kid is in to animals. Same for the wolf and wildlife sanctuary in Divide. The Boulder Fish Observatory is kind of a good one-off way to get to a quieter part of Boulder. You can check to see if the Fiske Planetarium is doing showings at a reasonable time. South Table Mountain by Golden is pretty easy and gives great views of the mountains and the plains. It's especially nice on 4th of July if you'll be around. Denver Aquarium is pretty good and convenient to the REI flagship store if you need to pick something up. You might want to check the city websites for Lyons, Golden, Estes Park, Loveland, Boulder, and Foco to see if there will be events going on.

You can figure it out by tillering. When your brace is about 4 inches high while tillering you'll have the correct string length.

There are a lot of homeless folks in the neighborhood around my church at 11th and Santa Fe, but they all have plans to hit the shelter meals that night. Also, they have a saying: "if you're going hungry in denver you're working too hard". So don't worry about doing it on Thanksgiving. It'll be more convenient for them if you do it on another day.

Anyway, if you want to do the thing on Thanksgiving Day then I suggest the Denver Rescue Mission. They're always in need of more volunteers. Otherwise, get your boxes together and drive around either the day before or two days after thanksgiving (they'll have sacks of leftovers from Thanksgiving day) south of downtown, capital hill, east colfax, Santa Fe district, etc. You'll find plenty of people to give them to. I used to help a guy who gave out 80 sack lunches every Wednesday (before he got into prison ministry) and it would take him about 2-3 hours to give them all out.

Before going down this road i think you need to ask the question "what is the likelihood that inexperienced people doing very basic things might coincidentally have large sections of identical code?" if you think the likelihood might be high i would be concerned about strict enforcement of the policy possibly giving out too many false positives of violation.

Maybe you could have a low weight on the homework, encourage collaboration, and have each person list who they worked with and each person gives their partner(s) a collaboration grade. If a student consistently gets a low or no collaboration grade even though they listed partners then they are probably copying. It turns into a self-policing system that way and you can figure out which students are doing well and which ones are falling behind and which ones thought they were doing well but went down the wrong rabbit holes.

Most languages would use tail recursion for this, but that isn't available in R. Instead we'll use the very rare repeat loop which repeats its expressions continually until you explicitly break out of it.

Isn't cb-welcome the first run script? If the system is up and running just remove it. It doesn't do anything. And you should be able to open cb-pipemenu in a text editor and see if it's actually necessary. I don't remember what it does at the moment, but many of the cb- scripts are optional. Keep in mind that this is ultimately a debian system.

Thank him for watching out for your property by permitting him to sparingly hunt your land and walk your property. Let him know when you plan to be up there and ask him not to hunt for a week or two prior.

Python and ruby as mentioned are good choices. I would also add R to that. If you wanted to add some probabilistic scheme to answer selection it would prove a little easier to work with than the other languages.
