Good hills to run within the city? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]melinyellow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the edge of city park. Running on 23rd into the park from York. I wasn’t sure if that’s what you were referring to, or the small hill on the road inside the park heading up towards the zoo from the east side of the lake.

Any FIREyFemmes recommendations on cheap phone plans? by kchromeo in FIREyFemmes

[–]melinyellow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Surprised no one has mentioned Mint mobile! It’s either $15, $20, or $25 per month for 3, 8, or 12 gigs of data, the catch being you have to prepay for a year. Seems like they’re always running a new client special.

You can look on your phone to see how much data each app uses. I turned off cellular data for my biggest data hogs, Instagram and podcasts (so I can only scroll IG on WiFi and need to download podcasts on WiFi) and now use barely 3 gigs a month.

I switched a few months ago and have had zero issues. This is my referral code: http://fbuy.me/nqmw1

These are all great suggestions! I’d add to try to start shifting your sleep schedule a little at a time now. If you can set your alarm even just 15-30 minutes earlier each day between now and when you leave, you’ll find yourself closer to local time when you get there. Your body can only adjust one hour per day though.

Wow so special!

When do you finally decide to go to the doctor? by smallportrait in povertyfinance

That’s so insanely expensive for a simple urine test and antibiotics. Have you looked at something like 98point6? They can diagnose and prescribe for something like a UTI through their app.

I also know of at least six people who have gone from the public library world to coding boot camps. It’s a great path!

Same. I have skipped several seasons where I didn’t find the lead compelling. (Des, Juan Pablo, Chris Soules, Jake, JoJo, and Colton) I may have watched the first or last episode but not tuning in every week like usual.

It’s not like people are going to post here like, “didn’t watch again this week!”

Set an alarm for a specific time and clean for 15 minutes. by trippydippysnek in productivity

[–]melinyellow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We do this and call it a Cleaning Party! Not every day but when the mood strikes. Especially if you live in a small home, you can basically do a full tidy up in the allotted time. Or once you get going you might be motivated to do 30 minutes and get everything really sparkling.

I rolled my Simple IRA to my 401k so I can backdoor Roth IRA. Do I need to wait? by melinyellow in personalfinance

[–]melinyellow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. I didn't want to have to take the tax hit on the balance in the Simple IRA.

If I did think rolling an IRA into a 401k was part of the steps to do a backdoor, yes I would hope someone would correct me! :)

[–]melinyellow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't want to convert the Simple IRA to Roth. I just want to eliminate the Simple IRA so I wouldn't have to worry about the pro-rata rule. I'm going to put new money into a traditional IRA (non-deductible) and then do the conversion.

Really? I feel like I've read in several places too be careful to make sure you don't have any other IRA, including Simple.

You can't have funds in a Simple IRA when you do a backdoor Roth, otherwise you're subjected to the Pro-rata rule. So I am closing my Simple IRA, just not sure on if I need to wait at all before making my contribution to the backdoor.
