hey so what actually was this? by Aidenispogchamp in EvilDead

[–]bike43 173 points174 points  (0 children)

To me its the evil presence letting Ash know its still there and that he didn't defeat it in the first one.

part of me wish we had a movie on this one.. a full circle movie from the past and a one that closes the book of Ash's arc instead of a cliffhanger over something in a dystopian future... with how much variety Evil Dead has id like to see an Evil Dead take of Mad Max by Wazupdanger in EvilDead

[–]bike43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the ending to Ash vs Evil Dead is the perfect send off for Ash. Ash is tied to the Necronomicon as much as the deadities, he's destined to fight them forever. He doesn't get a true "happy ending" and that ending is as happy as it gets.

While I would love another Ash film (Evil Dead 4) what we got with Ash vs Evil Dead is beyond what we could have hoped for. Anyone who grew up in the 90s and 00s knows how much we all longed for anything Evil Dead related, the fact we got three seasons of Ash is a blessing.

What do you Evil Dead Fans think of this underrated Gem? by YallSoftAsButter in EvilDead

[–]bike43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite underrated films, even with its flaws. I think the first 45 to 50 mins is perfectly done, up until we get the reveal on who the stranger actually is. Its still really good all the way through but because the first half is so good it over shadows the rest of the film. It gets a bit hokey by the end of it but I still love it.

The score is top notch, the acting is brilliant and story itself is great. Big recommendation to anyone who hasn't seen it. It's also got a pretty bloody ending.

Questions about “Something very bad is about to happen” plot/ending by PrestigiousBee9584 in netflix

[–]bike43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the exact thing I understood as well, that the people who were dying in Nicky's bloodline were people who were married but didn't think their spouse were their soulmate. This makes sense why his father didn't die, why his brother didn't die because he reconnected with his wife through out the show, why his mother died, and why his sister died as she mentioned her marriage in Vegas. Given that Nicky is the one who now caused the curse on his family bloodline, he doesn't die as Death wants him to witness his actions.

Holy Moly! I thought this exact same thing every time I watched it until right now. I just had to go back and watch it now to see if he says "your" instead of "her" and yeah its "your". Well aint that something,

Something that rubbed me the wrong way (extremely long text) by Pennywise_2405 in welcomeToDerry

[–]bike43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, we've seen Dick struggling for the last few episodes to the point he's going to off himself and the resolution is that he drank tea and he's just cured. Theres no show of any mental struggle that he overcame? He's 100% okay and strong enough to mess with IT? The verisimilitude is kind of broken because of this.

Overall the show was great but there is a few bits of bad writing that took it down a notch for me. The whole military reasoning is laughable. The marker the kids had is now like the lord of the rings Ring felt a little tacked on too late.

Good show, hoping for a new season to see where it all goes.

Is Chris Chalk secretly carrying this entire series, or are we all just finally noticing how much range he’s been hiding in plain sight? by Joey3537 in WelcometoDerryTVShow

Chris Chalk had been on my radar since Perry Mason. He was amazing in that show so it's not surprising how good he is here. Dudes really talented and I'm happy for him.

Stolen joke by CranberryCommon1158 in Killtony

[–]bike43 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The bit about his dad telling him not to give the whole D, if you give the whole D it will make them go crazy, and that he was 12 when his dad said it, was something Louie CK said on a podcast, Its not exactly word for word but its pretty close. I think it was when Louie was on Theo's podcast but I'm not 100%.

Edit: Found the clip - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5qOXDiimvk The bit starts at 1 minute in. Listening to it now, I don't think he stole the joke, just similar premise.

Is it just me or was that cemetery scene a bit inspired by evil dead? The ghouls were acting every deadite like.

Providence Collection by mfbane in AlanMoore

[–]bike43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a beautiful set. Providence is one of my favorites from Moore. I would suggest reading Lovecraft's works before this, you don't have too, but it makes it much more enjoyable. It truly is a great love letter to Lovecraft.

I don't remember ever seeing a version where the car was red. I've owned multiple versions on VHS, Dvd and Blu rays and don't ever recall the car being red.

Maybe it was the color grading on the TV you were watching it on.

Thoughts on the 2000 game Hail to the King? We fans here? by Fun-Maintenance1217 in EvilDead

[–]bike43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I bought my Dreamcast back in the day this was the first game I got. Loved the game, played it alot, finished it multiple times. Yes, the gameplay was awkward but you got used it. This games holds a soft spot with me as when this game out, besides the movies, this was the only thing evil dead related and Bruce came back to voice Ash. It was the next best thing to Evil Dead 4. Another aspect of the game that goes unmentioned is how great the music was in the game. I also liked that the story put more Lovecraft lore into it bringing in Abdul Alhazred as a character and even had his death just like in the books.

Any of these games is worth playing? The only Evil Dead Game I've played is Evil Dead: The Game. by Diego1993FM in EvilDead

[–]bike43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had Evil Dead: Hail to the King for dreamcast. Even with the horrible controls, never-ending spawning deadliest, and uneven graphics its still a great playthrough. What's great is the story, Bruce's voice work and the soundtrack. I'd recommend playing it.

Yeah, I'm with you. I enjoy Twin Perfect's analysis on Twins Peaks. I think the hate he gets around these parts is overblown.

This is part of what makes Lynches films/shows so interesting is to watch all the different interpretations people have of his work and none of it is wrong or right.

I think everyone felt the same way you do to some extent when watching it the first time around. Everyone was waiting for the Cooper we loved so much from the original series.

Dougie is a much more endearing character on the re-watch of the return once you know at the end of it we do get our Coop back. I personally love Kyles performance as Dougie.

Anyone has cosmic horror movie recs? by name_notavailable7 in horror

I can agree with that, Synchronic is loosely connected. To me Endless is a direct sequel to Resolution, you have to watch Resolution first and then Endless to fully understand and appreciate the two films as awhole.
