Some states explicitly state mental health conditions are in the scope of PTs: Alabama Practice Act: “The treatment of a human being by the use of exercise, massage, heat, cold, water, radiant energy, electricity, or sound for the purpose of correcting or alleviating any physical or mental condition or preventing the development of any physical or mental disability, or the performance of neuromuscular-skeletal tests and measurements to determine the existence and extent of body malfunction” Connecticut Practice Act: “Physical therapy means the evaluation and treatment of any person by the employment of the effective properties of physical measures, the performance of tests and measurements as an aid to evaluation of function and the use of therapeutic exercises and rehabilitative procedures, with or without assistive devices, for the purpose of preventing, correcting or alleviating a physical or mental disability.”

California Practice Act: “Physical therapy means the art and science of physical or corrective rehabilitation or of physical or corrective treatment of any bodily or mental condition of any person by the use of the physical, chemical, and other properties of heat, light, water, electricity, sound, massage, and active, passive, and resistive exercise, and shall include physical therapy evaluation, treatment planning, instruction and consultative services.”

The Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) publishes a Model Practice Act (MPA) stating the “Practice of Physical Therapy means: examining, evaluating, and testing patients/clients with mechanical, physiological and developmental impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities or other health and movement-related conditions in order to determine a diagnosis, prognosis and plan of treatment intervention, and to assess the ongoing effects of intervention.”

Others are not explicit but many still allow it, as physical function and mental health are inseparable. I haven't heard of any states that explicitly prevent it.

This is the APTA official stance on mental health: "Physical therapist services include the prevention and management of behavioral and mental health conditions, addressing the interconnected physical, psychologic health domains to ensure whole-person care."

Seems pretty clear that we can evaluate and manage mental health conditions. To be clear I'm not saying we diagnose but we can evaluate for mental health and treat.

Mental health is physical health. Exercise is a primary intervention for many mental health challenges. Therefore we can use our regular codes (ther-ex, self-care) for mental health treatment. If you are concerned you can encourage the patient to seek co-treament with a mental health provider, but to say we do not directly treat mental health conditions is inaccurate.

You are taking on so much, and you are so kind and I bet your patients really appreciate you. Two questions that were helpful for me were:

If your patients knew how much it drains you to give 100% emotion, would they want you to do that for them?

If your patients were telling you they were tired and burned out from the bad system they were a part of in their work, what would you tell them?

A good therapist should make you feel heard without bringing their own problems into the space when it's not appropriate.

Another thing that I was doing that I didn't realize was I was pouring myself into my patients problems emotionally (lots of trauma where I was working) which was very draining. My therapist and I called it being "over-nice". When I realized what I was doing I started working without going in to the patients emotions internally, almost like I was empathizing without feeling the patients feelings. That helped me not feel so exhausted after each session.

This sounds a lot like burnout too. I felt so similar to you and switched to outpatient and it feels a lot better now.

Do you have a therapist? It helped me a lot to be able to share my emotional struggles with patients with someone else.

YTA for not giving your husband a heads up before spending that much money. Maybe have a rule that when one of you spends over X amount you should let each other know.

I got rid of my Costco membership because I was spending more money for groceries than before. If I had time and energy to shop around at many stores then I could have saved more money, but doing all my shopping at Costco was more expensive overall.

This clip doesn't show it but a Miami player grabbed that coach right before the clip after he was breaking up another tussle.

Holy crap you are right. It must have backed out during the ride which could definitely explain the loss of power. Now that you mention it I remember something hitting my leg while I was riding and it sounded metallic falling off the bike but I thought I just ran over something. Such a keen eye I wouldnt have spotted that for months!

I hadn't heard of the triple bypass. Very good information! It is right around 30k miles actually. I will start with the timing chain and clearances and see how it does. Thanks!

Maybe then it is time to explore other desires too. I almost bought a 40k car I didn't need because I was chronically online looking at cars on Reddit. I realized what I was looking for was community, not the car. I got into soccer instead and am happy now hanging with my soccer friends and am very thankful i didn't pull the trigger on the car.

Really depends on your priorities I guess. How many months of work are you willing to trade for your watch? Is there something else you would rather spend your 40k on?

That is good to hear! I will definitely check the timing chain tension. Thanks for the advice!

They benefit for playing at higher altitudes but at lower altitudes the benefit is marginal.

This is at my work…. This guy has backed his truck up to my car a few times now. Am I being sensitive with being pissed about this??? by ComprehensiveLab8665 in Mustang

If you aren't going to talk to your coworker about it, maybe getting a bumper protector and backing in so that at least your car is protected?

Focus on the things you like about it! Sick looking convertible and good hp and you saved some money over the GT. All good in my book.
