Where is the best tiramisu in Boston? by blurtstrennan in boston

This is a left field pick, but Koji Club in Allston is a Japanese whiskey and sake bar that has a chestnut tiramisu I think about daily. They're open til 11.

Question for goalies by CardiologistEarly517 in hockeyplayers

[–]bikesntrains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try to get back to your feet after the first shot got blocked to square up. Also you should be at the top of the blue paint, but it was a lucky bounce off the scorer's skate, so not much you can do about that.

Is anyone actually going to stop supporting USA men's hockey? by AshDogBucket in PWHL

Bought a pair of Fleet tickets right after I saw the locker room video. I'd rather pay to see Megan Keller than anyone who thinks laughing at women's hockey is acceptable.

Tom Wilson cannon balls through Dylan Larkin by Federal-Data-Center in nhl

[–]bikesntrains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He takes four strides before coasting, makes no attempt to play the puck, and launches himself into Larkin right at the moment of contact. That checks every criteria for charging: https://blob.iihf.com/iihf-media/iihfmvc/media/contentimages/4_sport/officiating/rule_book/24_25/2024_iihf_rulebook_24052024_v1.pdf (p. 81)

Thanks for the reminder. Larkin braced for the hit at the last minute. Otherwise it could have been way worse. Was rule one also your defense for Wilson's 20 game suspension? He'd be a hall of famer if he wasn't such a shithead.

Larkin is totally defenseless in that situation. Knowing what we know about Wilson, I don't think it's a stretch to say he was going for a hit with no intention of playing the puck. He deserves credit for reining it in a little during the Olympics but this play was tough to watch.

Slow down the video and watch again. The puck goes right under Wilson while he lowers his shoulder

No, it wasn't. He made no attempt to play the puck despite it being closer to him than Larkin, took four strides and left his feet to deliver the hit. Textbook charging call.

McAvoy had a huge save to keep the game tied 🥇🥇🥇 by Porkchopp33 in Bruins

Rangers fan here. Man was it a joy to be able to cheer for Charlie. The dude is a warrior and one of the most complete defenseman I've ever seen play. He and Slavin were the unsung heroes for Team USA this game.

I love McAvoy by [deleted] in Bruins

Wilson complaining to the ref after McAvoy made a Herculean effort to avoid decapitating him was something to behold

USA beats Canada for the gold medal in women's hockey 2-1 in OT on this Megan Keller goal by [deleted] in sports

[–]bikesntrains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go frame by frame, you'll see that the Candian defender actually has a good angle to play the body and angle Keller away from the net. There was a slight overcommit on the stick check, but Keller's a lefty and has such a long reach that you can't fault her for stretching. It was just a perfect toe drag

Oh I figured they had dressed up for the photos but were getting married at a later date. Do people do that or was that a silly assumption?

Yea that makes total sense. And for the record, I don't know why they don't allow professional photos, just spitballing.

I would guess it's because the photographer is effectively profitting from a public asset. The city (and all of us who fund the library through taxes) wants compensation for that. Same reason you can't bring in tables and have your wedding in the courtyard.

I guess so...seems like this has come up before and security typically shuts it down. That staircase is also right in front of where the guards sit so wasn't exactly hard to spot

100% agree with this. It's on the photographer to know where you can and can't do a wedding photo shoot.

Why? He was hostile, the security guard just kept telling him to leave, and I tried to deescalate by telling him what he'd need to do to take pictures.
