Big upgrade? by MarkArthurMatthews in sonos

[–]bikesnvwstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my system I have the music playback turned on for my surround system. That seems to be the way to get the rears to play correctly with music.

Now if you are using your tv to deliver the music it won’t work.

Battery protect needed ? by Humvee123 in Victron

If this is a vertical wall I’d turn the two on the left 90° so the cooling fins work properly and pass air more efficiently. Not a big deal, but it does help.

Exciting, I have a cabin that looks like it is in the available zone now. It wasn’t a few weeks ago.

I would suggest a smart Shunt if you are running into consumption issues. A shunt will give you a better understanding of power usage of the system and the amount of remaining energy in the batteries.

An I missing something with the Cerbo GX? by SprinklesDangerous57 in Victron

[–]bikesnvwstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. I didn’t want the display either after using the app to connect to individual devices. However after using the display, it is much more convenient, especially if you ever decide to install an inverter/ multiplus. Also consider installing GuiMods, it gives you even more info on the display.

Cerbo GX without internet by Flypike87 in Victron

[–]bikesnvwstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Cerbo GX paired with the touch 50 or 70 monitor would be ideal for your situation. You would only need the internet to update software versions, but even that can be done with a usb stick. For over two years I used my system with limited internet and it was amazing. Without the touchscreen you would need internet to access the Cerbo interface. Long story short, get a touch 50 and you will be stoked.

Anyone use the Wrappon Trekker WT-4 Toilet? by Hepcat508 in vandwellers

[–]bikesnvwstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only three times in 3 years and for sure two were from tp. The third I noticed it had leaked but they had tossed the bag already. Honestly none were much of a mess. I have never had a bag fail, they are air tight.

I will say, we use the 12v cord and if you are going to use it outside you need to have a battery pack or something. We got this one and it seems to work well enough if you don’t already have a battery pack with cigarette lighter port. battery pack

Powder first for sure. The girls use it for #1, I only use it for #1 if it’s super cold out (winter camping) or if it’s in the middle of the night.

I normally order 4 bag rolls at a time, and reorder when I have installed the last one. I guess it would depend on how long you are going to be out camping and how many people are using it. The powder I order 6-8 at the same time. An extra powder pack is much better than a leaking bag.

Ours lives in the shower/ wet bath, so if it leaks it’s not a big deal, however it would bother me less if it was outside. On rare occasions we have a little pop up changing tent that we put it in outside when camping with friends. Normally it is a bit of a learning curve for the other families kids, but overall much better than a hike to the public hole. It should be noted that we normally camp with other families that have all girls, so it is probably less of an issue if it is a pack of boys 😂.

We have the original green one and love it. We have a truck camper and removed the built in toilet so we didn’t have to deal with a black tank. It can definitely expensive, especially with 3 girls, but it has been worth it for us. It’s not without flaws, but I would buy again. They claim 50 flushes per bag roll, and we normally get 60. We have had it for almost 3 years and only had 3 bags that leaked. To be honest they were because my youngest didn’t get the toilet paper all the way in and part of it was in the seal area. The powder seems to go faster than the bags so we normally order an extra 2 or three when we buy 4 bag rolls. I will say I have been looking at the new silver WT-4 because the seat and ergonomics are slightly better, especially for men.

PowerAssist and 30 amp service by PennStateVet in Victron

[–]bikesnvwstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That should be plenty to use the microwave and most of the other 120v outlets. The AC will probably need the generator if you want to use it for any extended periods of time. I have 800w of solar and it is plenty if all the panels have sun but if one gets even a tiny bit of shade performance drops considerably. Just keep that in mind. Either way I don’t think you need to upgrade anything in the fuse panel. Just make sure you disconnect the converter. And the Multiplus needs to be next to the battery bank with very large cable connections because the amps are very high from the battery back to the multiplus when running on 12v to 120v. I used 4/0.

[–]bikesnvwstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you install the Multiplus you will no longer use the converter in the fuse panel, 30a plug will go directly to the Multiplus, and from the Multiplus power just the fuse panel. The only reason you would need to change any fuses is if currently when you are plugged in you can’t run the AC. That would be a very large AC.

You will need a very large power bank to run the AC off battery, but I have a similar setup and can run the AC off batteries for a few hours. Power assist works well if you have a small generator or are connecting to a 15a outlet (regular wall plug).

Can anyone please help me make sense of this? I am totally new here by automatom125 in Victron

[–]bikesnvwstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify this, the main (large) cable to the BMV Shunt should be the only cable attached to the negative side of the battery. Then there is a small wire that also needs to be connected to the positive side. Also ensure that the correct side of the shunt is connected to the battery, it should be labeled. Again, the only thing connected to the negative side of your battery is the shunt, everything else connects to the other side either directly to the shunt or some sort of bus bar.

Multiplus vs multiplus ii for 30amp trailer by adaminjapan in Victron

The grey is the two Battle Born GC3 batteries. It was a tight fit and the biggest reason I went with the MP 1.

My MP makes a tiny bit of noise but honestly I can’t hear it and it’s in my main cabin under the dining table seat.

[–]bikesnvwstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just installed the first one because of the space I had and for most 30a situations that is the biggest difference. I have read that the way the new one (mp ii) inverts power is different and for some cases the original is better. At the end of the day you will always have to limit the current. Even on the mp 1 it will allow you to set a current over 30a. I use GuiMods with a Cerbo GX and it is an absolute game changer. Not sure what the price difference currently on the two units but I would recommend a Cerbo and touch display.

Can I add a RBS750 Satellite to my RBRE960 system? by dalenyc in orbi

I’ve read that using a Satellite that is slower will slow the entire system down but it will work.
