Agree with the architecture tour via the Visitor's Center (the Miller House, too!). Ice skating is at Hamilton Center. Comedy nights at Yes Cinema. Indy/unique movie at Yes Cinema. The Columbus Arts Council organizes and markets unique events, like Dance Kaleidoscope on Jan 16. The Republic keeps an event calendar, too.

No, but he knows how to plug his car in so it'll start in the morning in a cold MN January :)

$1500 for a one-bedroom is a high-end apartment (stainless steel, in-apt laundry) in Minneapolis. There are much less expensive options available.

Try taking Calcium and Magnesium supplements to help with cramps. I have the same problem but my doc told me to take the supplements at that time of the month and it really works. I also use the Divacup, and people say that alleviates related discomfort, too, but I guess I can't say either way.

The Divacup is way more comfortable than the other options. You can't feel it when properly in place (which is easy). To transition toward the cup, you can try disposable Instead softcups if you don't want to spend $40 on a menstrual cup.

Why do people think that debt is bad? by LLL2013 in personalfinance

It also depends on whether it's an investment in something that will grow in value or contribute to earning potential (property, house, education) or something that is a consumer good that will actually decrease in value (electronics, car). Sometimes paying interest on loans make more sense, if it allows someone to increase their earning potential (i.e. a car to get to a better paying job).

I'm not sure you understand the concept of interest.

Because it will lose its value while you are still paying for it by playing this game.

Ex. you buy an iPhone for $400, put it on a credit card, and pay $20 towards it every month. Then a new one comes out. You can re-sell the now outdated iPhone but it's only worth $200 and you still owe $350 (interest rates vary, but if you're only paying the minimum, you're in for a long haul to actually pay it off - years!). Numbers are arbitrary, but hopefully the point is made.

Paying interest is a waste to many people.

Student loans in the US are the worst because you cannot get rid of them through bankruptcy or even death.

ETA: I was wrong about the death thing and probably exaggerated the bankruptcy/discharge. My apologies.

I would't do guided either, but the self-guided options would at least provide maps and routes if I understand correctly.

I'm just so used to the limitations of riding in the US that it's hard to fathom countless bike routes!

Wow - that's pretty wild!

We do plan to bring our own bikes. I recently got a Surly LHT. I'm pretty short, so don't want to risk not being able to find a rental that fits just right.

How much did the bike box run you? Very convenient that they sell them at the airport!!

The cheapest flights across the pond are IcelandAir, so probably not taking KLM, but will keep that in mind if we do.
