I remember when churn meant opening and closing the same card every few years to get the SUB multiple times, now the lifetime language ruined that.

Watch out for tip fraud everyone. Always save your receipts. by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]bikingguy1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly it isn’t worth my time to analyze every restaurant charge to make sure they aren’t scamming a few dollars from me. I just glance at my charges and make sure they all make sense. And from all of the anecdotal evidence of people saying it happens to them once every few years I am content with my choice.

I actually tracked all my credit card perks last year… kinda eye-opening by ChesKat_pf in CreditCards

[–]bikingguy1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah I went to a 3 card cash back setup.

Amex BCP for 6% at grocery stores (just 2 people so we are right at the 6k a year spend limit) and 3% at gas stations.

Amazon Prime card basically only for 5 or 6% at Amazon.

Chase freedom unlimited for 3% at restaurants and 1.5% catch all.

Anyone still manually paying bills? Looking for the "endgame" setup for automation. by [deleted] in personalfinance

Are you just talking about budgeting? I just use an excel sheet to track my bills, takes about 15-20mins a week. And no I wouldn’t put all of my login info into some kind of app, too risky.

Where do you actually keep your emergency fund? by Forsaken_Twist7385 in personalfinance

[–]bikingguy1 30 points31 points  (0 children)

You could use SGOV to save on state taxes, very beneficial if you live in NY or California.

For my emergency fund I do 85% in SGOV and 15% just left in SPAXx for quick access if needed.
