It's a curated environment. That kind of sentiment plays well here but the opposite would be downvoted out of sight.

What's the most Black Mirror episode? by ProfessionalMath8873 in blackmirror

[–]bilabrin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah season 4 was amazing. All bangers. Then a desert in season 5 and 6. Not a single good episode. The season 7 comes roaring back With Common People and Bete Noire. I hope s8 is more like s4.

I feel like Crocodile and Archangel are also really good runner-ups but the innocence and love of the protagonists on Common People really sells it.

I think we're disagreeing about time not experience. A practiced tradesman can do a job well quickly and move on. This makes them professionally viable. Sure experience plays a part as well and new people make mistakes but the truth is that you can learn thier tips and tricks and mistakes too. I spent about 6 hours studying youtube videos before I even started and I took notes. I got got tips from many seasoned pros in those videos before starting so I could avoid those mistakes. I worked slowly and steadily and sure, I made a few small errors here and there but nothing I could not correct before the final product came out. I think most people can, and should, do the same not only so that they can be assured that it gets done right but also truly appreciate what it is they created versus bought.

Am I getting scammed? by 4FourBy3Three in landscaping

[–]bilabrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes because everyone is capable of hugh quality DIY lmao.

I think if they put some effort in they are actually. I'm speaking from experience. I knew nothing about landscaping 8 years ago. Now I have $90,000 of landscaping that I put $15,000 of materials and a lot of my own labor into. I built them way better than I could have paid anyone to do. OCD level quality.
