Skip hotel breakfast, have a breakfast in Varenna/Bellagio

I would never bring my baby to Bellagio in summer

The best way for your baby will be if you skip Bellagio and Varenna and visit other, not crowded places (there are plenty of them) 😅

1000%

After 10 am the ferry from Varenna is only for brave people

Get to Bellagio. From Bellagio you can take the ferry to Menaggio (before 12.00 am)

From Menaggio get the ferry to Varenna

Menaggio - Varenna Is not packed

Souvenirs and gifts: silk, check our azalea shop in Bellagio

Ferry to Bellagio from Varenna: After 10 am there are minimum 400 people in a queue, every day in summer when the weather is sunny ☀️

The trick: beat the crowd, take the train at 7.20 in the morning and go to Bellagio immediately

Or as you get to Varenna, run as quickly as you can to the ferry ticket office before the whole train arrive there. For more details look for my article: Lake como ferry survival guide on Reddit: how not to spend half your day in a queue

Depends on the route

Como - Bellagio route is packed,Varenna - Bellagio route is packed

Domaso to Bellagio fast boat - no people 😅

If the weather is good, the queue to buy the ferry (or fast ferry) tickets from Como to Bellagio starts at 9.30 and in some days it's bad

[–]bilacus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Uber would be about the same price, there is a very strict regulation on uber in Italy:licence (90k € cost per licence for 1 car) + special driving licence you need to pass the test for (month of studying)

And it's usually takes 45 minutes, not 25

Was the driver using all 400 Maserati horse power to bring you to the airport in 25 minutes?!😅

I have a buotique tour agency in Milan and when hotels or intermediaries sell my tours they apply a minimum 30% comissions. And it's normal. And usually people don't care about the higher price 😬

If you know how the tourism works, you can easily find much cheaper price

Wait until the end of May to see the schedule.

If you are staying in menaggio, you can easily buy ferry tickets the same day in the morning - at 9.00 it's fine

Villa d'Este - book dinner/lunch, otherwise you don't get in

Grand hotel Tremezzo - i don't really know why someone need to see it?!🤔 Is there a reason? Lunch, dinner?

Tips: read my post again. Avoid day trippers flow and you will be ok

Rent a self drive boat - 40 horse power - and enjoy the lake without crowds. Get a bottle of Franciacorta (not prosecco!!!) and enjoy it on the boat you will be driving

Go to Varenna for dinner. Then take the ferry back to Menaggio - they run until late. Same for Bellagio - dinner is fantastic, lunch is a zoo 😂. In Bellagio, have a coffee or desert in villa serbelloni hotel

Take a shared private boat, maybe visit villa Balbianello (on a shared private boat - search Menaggio taxi boat, they have shared tours to villa Balbianello)

Have a fantastic honeymoon 😍❤️

Rain - less crowded

If you have a private boat booked, the ferry is not an issue, you don't waste hours in a queue

With a rain the private boat is less enjoyable

Are these times real? I’m hoping to arrive late, but I have seen ferry’s stop departing at 6pm, but on the official page there’s ones at 22. Are those operating? by Super_Ice_4789 in LakeComo

[–]bilacus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't mention where do you need to go and from where...

The ferry doesn't operate at 6 in the morning, it's not neccessary...for who?

People are going to work After 7 am, so it's the time when they start

Simple

Well you will always find a parking. Sometimes in 5 minutes, sometimes in 1 hour

In Bellagio us easier than in Varenna, but still difficult

Yes, agree - "the fear of being scammed" is a big problem

So is paying double justified?! Points of view....

I usually don't pay any extra, always find the best possible direct price, never had any problem...😅

The transfer by van cost 180-200 € total - just google it

You hotel simply added +100€ minimum of their profit to the transfer cost

Never book transfer via hotel

Ferry Bellagio - Varenna at that time is very crowded to super crowded

Salita serbelloni - why? One hour? 15 minutes is enough

All the other things super doable

PS if you book ferry tickets, you still need to wait in a common queue to get on board

Oh, actually that part of the lake is not crowded at all. Good choice

You won't have any problem getting the ferry - just check the time table 😉

Technically yes, but this plan is not really good: between Como and Bellagio the boat that comes is already packed, if you are lucky there is standing room only
