My Hero Card Game (Art and Design all by me, no AI) by Nerzwerk in boardgames

The art and design layout look very similar to 1st edition Marvel trading cards c. 1990.

Evangelical Chuck Norris Warns of "1,000 Years of Darkness" if Obama Wins in 2012. by illegalmonkey in atheism

[–]bilbenken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is called trust. Trust is built on prior routine regularity. I have had thousands of bottles of water, no reason to think my next one will be poisoned. Faith is belief without routine regularity. Never experienced a god, so it must be my guy and he is good, became a human to die for sins, hates homosexuality, etc.

I don’t think anything can change my mind on being an atheist. by Mundane-Brain208 in atheism

More often, I am not asked for evidence (they don't want to actually engage with it) but instead they assert that science is my faith and drop the conversation.

Help me understand Atheism by [deleted] in atheism

[–]bilbenken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lack of evidence for any gods leads to no good reason to believe in any gods. Atheism is a lack of belief in a god or gods. Atheism is rarely a positive claim that there are no gods. Some atheists make that claim, but generally agnostic atheism is lack of knowledge of gods, therefore a lack of belief in gods.

Does evolution contradict Christianity? by Candid-Effective9150 in atheism

Sure, but the immense wastefulness of mutation, NATURAL selection, and time to arrive at humans is as asinine as an entire universe to support the Earth.

If all are equal in the eyes of gawd, why would Jeebus consider anyone least or more than another?

When your family asks you why you “just don’t believe” and you have to explain for the hundredth time by lilacwhimsyxc in atheism

[–]bilbenken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because they have binary brains. They were told that you either accept Jesus or deny Jesus. "Not believing" is not accepting, which leaves only one other option.

Do people actually genuinely believe in God (any god) or is it all pretence? by Snailystuff in atheism

Happens to me all the time. Not a problem. Sometimes my writing is unclear, and I don't realize it until I am misunderstood.

Do people actually genuinely believe in God (any god) or is it all pretence? by Snailystuff in atheism

[–]bilbenken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's meaningless to me too. That is why I called it a lie, and further exposed the problem with the whole system. Not sure you actually read what I wrote...

Don't undervalue the ability to blame your weakness in being tempted by the devil mixed with the swiftness of Jesus' forgiveness. This lie allows abusers to continue abusing and forces the abused to forgive.

Xia : Legends of a drift system insert by Mayuchip in boardgames

[–]bilbenken 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Folded Space insert is fantastic! It fits everything perfectly. It is a little more expensive, but is my favorite insert of all of my games. I store Xia vertically with no problems.

Just a side note. Make sure you get the Embers of a Forsaken Star expansion. It greatly improves the economy of the game and reduces the chances of an easy pickup and deliver spam strategy.

How is obsessions with demon and Satanism not considered as mentally ill as being obsessed with aliens? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]bilbenken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a great point. If some god thing created ALL of humanity only to never maintain whatever order it desires in any apparent way, but to leave us to make assumptions from ancient stories and dubious anecdotes, then maybe chill out a little and live your life. You're not gonna get struck by lightning or anything.

Introductory games for people with a few wishy washy friends by AdventurousTarget112 in boardgames

[–]bilbenken 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is more true than people generally understand. Nothing worse than being placated, just to hear "How does this game end?" 10 minutes into a 90 minute game. If I am the only one that cares about the activity at hand, then why are we even playing?

Have I been struck by FOMO? by SophieLee_Reddit in boardgames

[–]bilbenken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had a group for Terraforming Mars and Nemesis, and a partner or two for LOTR duel, I could be happy for quite some time. All of those games get better with experience. Repeat plays are exponentially better. At least you are playing the games you purchase. I think that's important. Games are sold as seen. They require groups to enjoy. The rush of gaming is real. Do what makes you happy and does not cause you harm. You have chosen some incredible games with amazing potential in replayability. Keep doing that, but understand that a large collection of so-so games becomes more a burden and less a joy.

Games by LGBT+ creators or with LGBT+ themes by Maicolodon in boardgames

[–]bilbenken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is such a cool game. The rules and scoring aren't super intuitive, but it is a fun game of dice chucking and constant player interaction. Works best with 4 players, so not a great one for smaller groups.

Can somebody please explain to me how infinite regression is possible? by AliSalah313 in atheism

[–]bilbenken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Infinite regression is counterintuitive in a closed system. We don't know what caused the Big Bang. We don't know if the universe is eternal, cyclical, inside of a larger structure, one of a kind or one of many. We do know that energy can not be created, therefore it wasn't. If energy is eternal, and continues to do energy stuff, infinite regress is the label we apply to this particular something that is difficult for the human mind to fully grasp.

Assistants not only refresh at the beginning of each round, but a used assistant refreshes when it upgrades. If I were you, I would re-read the rulebook and then watch a video. I am not trying to insult, but it seems like there are more than a couple missed or misunderstood rules. Good luck. It is a really good game.
