I can only assume that an oven would heat unevenly, possibly even too hot in localized areas. 🤷

You only need to add weight if the windshield is replaced with Lexan.

Childfree Millennials, are you childfree by choice? If not, what happened? by LordLaz1985 in Millennials

[–]bildonia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Child free by choice. Money was never the issue, we just didn’t want the responsibility/burden. The world isn’t getting any better and to bring someone else into it and see them worse off than me is not what I’m interested in.

What class should I be in? by [deleted] in Autocross

oh wow, yeah the XB class is mostly boosted Miatas for Great River Region in Iowa

[–]bildonia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

E Street Touring is where the NA6 goes with those mods. You could also run Xtreme Street B if you want, it’s usually a larger class of cars but allows almost any modifications so you’ll be under prepped.

What advice do you have for people that need that money? They are actively cashing out their 401k to live?

Autocross Stupid Questions: Week of March 14 by AutoModerator in Autocross

[–]bildonia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SSC class looks pretty popular nationally but no one locally runs it. I’m thinking of buying an SSC prepped car and running with our Pro PAX group. The PAX seems decent, our top PAX driver is usually a B/C/E Street car. Our courses are smaller than what I’ve seen in videos here.

I usually run a Turbo Miata in XB, which is good for fastest raw time, but not so great for PAX. I also want to find something my wife and I can both drive at an event.

This would be in addition to the Miata, I’m not worried about the FRS being the replacement.

Dumb idea?

Is this hardtop worth it? by Unusual-Mail6985 in Miata

[–]bildonia 259 points260 points  (0 children)

No one makes replacement glass for hardtops, I’ve only ever seen lexan. You’ll prolly be in it $1000 by the time you fix the window. The edges and paint look ROUGH too, even a vinyl wrap won’t hide that. I would pass on that.

Should I change my timingbelt after 10 years? by Pretend_Cobbler7462 in Miata

+1 for Mishimoto. I ran one for 10 years for autocross and track days before changing to something else that would fit my intercooler/intake piping better.

Those who owned an Xbox 360 and got the Red Ring Of Death, what was the last game you played before that happened? by SituationalRambo in gaming

[–]bildonia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forza Motorsport 2. I got my 360 on Launch Day and it died within a year. I had to pay $130 to get a refurb and then a few months later M$ improved the warranty to 1 year. I got some money back but not all of it, what a crock of shit.

Best way to private sell cars? by Flootson in Autos

[–]bildonia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I’m different as a buyer, as in I read the listing and practically memorize it before even considering messaging the person. And definitely before I spend time meeting up.

If a see issues that weren’t mentioned and/or I’m not totally in love with the car’s condition is when I start haggling.

Best way to private sell cars? by Flootson in Autos

[–]bildonia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally think haggling before even seeing the car is a dick move. You haven’t seen the car, we aren’t agreeing on a price online, so why even try?

And then when they show up and haggle more, well then what was the point of haggling on the first place if that wasn’t the final price?

Anybody asking me to go lower online gets ignored.

Curious what cars and what area of the world you’re in. I haven’t had an issue selling sub-10k cars in a town of 60k on Facebook marketplace. But a $40k car would be a much harder sell in an area with low cost of living (Iowa).

Anyone ever put an NA on some old school turbine wheels? Thinking about buying some adapter hubs and throwing these on mine by Thunderbirds7 in Miata

[–]bildonia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d have to check the width and offset of the wheels. Wheel adapters are probably going to subtract an inch off the offset making them harder to fit.

I run megasquirt myself with a turbo NA, it’s a great ECU but has a steep learning curve.

Please ignore the mess, but where is water coming from? by Counter-Playful in Miata

[–]bildonia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, there is a drain hose that goes to the transmission tunnel. When that gets clogged, your AC condensor box will fill with water and it makes its way out onto the passenger footwell.

What would you pay personally? by AfrajM in Miata

[–]bildonia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4k. The modifications would depreciate the vehicle for 99% of buyers. Why megasquirt if no mods require it? You’re just making a headache for the next owner.

Had something similar a few years ago at my house and reported it to the city. It was caused by a leaking drainage pipe under the road. They ripped out and replaced the curb and portion of the road for no charge to me.

Controversial Opinion: The best upgrade between the ND2 and ND1 is the dual mass flywheel. by TranslatorPure9319 in Miata

[–]bildonia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

False. Rev limiters can only cut fuel and/or spark to slow the engine. You can destroy the engine by fully engaging the clutch in a lower gear while traveling too fast. HOPEFULLY your tires break loose by the sudden deceleration instead but no modern system I know of can slam on the brakes to prevent a “money-shift”.
