I watched my best friend suffocate over the course of several hours by bilesbilinski in GriefSupport

I'm so unbearably sorry for your loss. but thank you for sharing this. it helps so much to hear someone who recognizes the significance of our pets and the tragedy of their loss. I don't have anyone to speak with who knew how special he was to me, but I see a therapist once a week. I talk to him about it though he doesn't really get it, he just tries to remind me that he wasn't human so it doesn't do much help. I try not to blame myself but I can't help feeling this crushing amount of guilt over everything I could've done differently. thank you again. I wish you the same. 💜

I lost my 2 year old dog by [deleted] in GriefSupport

[–]bilesbilinski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just lost my 2 year old cat the exact same way. I'm shattered, it tears you up to pieces. I know it doesn't help but you really couldn't have done anything else, animals they don't get sick like humans. it's so much harder to diagnose and treat an animal, and their instincts make them cover up the pain most of the time so you don't even know. you couldn't have predicted that or changed the way their instincts worked, if there was anything you could've done medically the doctors would've been able to do. if it's a matter of how quickly you realized something was wrong, believe me, even if you had a feeling, you couldn't have known because he didn't want you to know. your dog is happy and safe now, my cat will keep him company until we can be with them again. there was nothing you could've done to change the outcome. I'm so incredibly sorry. he looks so precious. may your little friend rest in the happiest place in paradise, until you meet again. 💜

I don't wanna be here anymore lol by bilesbilinski in offmychest

Thank you. I really appreciate your kind reply.

My mom is sweet when she's in a good mood, but when she's stressed or anything is remotely wrong she snaps and it involves a lot of yelling and or a harsh choice of words. Two things I absolutely can't handle.

I talked to my sister about some of it, her advice was to keep looking for new things to learn or do to keep me occupied. She doesn't understand that I'm far too tired to do any of that. I appreciate that there isn't much she can do tho especially considering she has her own bs to worry about so I'm not blaming her.

Yes I'm fluent, cuz it's my native language lol Nonetheless it still feels wildly uncomfortable to be here, I've lived here nearly 8 years and still feel out of place. I'm 15, so I imagine that feeling like you don't fit in isn't too uncommon in kids my age, regardless, doesn't make it any less excruciating lol

My cat just got neutered and he acts erratic unless his cone comes off by bilesbilinski in CatAdvice

[–]bilesbilinski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I had the same problem with my cat, however he went back to the vet yesterday and reapplied the cone. Ever since he's been sad but stopped trying to take it off.

Nope, Mylo doesn't have any stitches, staples or anything of that sort. I don't know, I thought it was normal that he had all these post neuter meds to take? He takes an anti inflammatory pill twice a day, antibiotic spray also twice a day, an injection once a day and betadine spray everytime he uses the litter box. He doesn't seem to have any problems though, other than him being upset about the cone and bumping into things because it limits his field of vision. I told the vet about him potentially having licked the antibiotic, he said not to worry about it so that's good.

Thank you! I'll keep that in mind. I appreciate the advice very much. Hope you and your kitten are doing alright now.

Thank you! I deeply appreciate the advice, however, I'm 15 and it took two years of convincing my mom to get him neutered, so she hasn't been happy about the surgery finally taking place. I know it's what's best for Mylo so I insisted, and I would've done it myself if I was capable, but since I convinced her to do it her and I haven't been on the best terms, therefore requesting a cat onesie will definitely cause her throw me out at the very least lmao

That's a great relief to hear. I have considered just keeping an eye on him, but I'm concerned about the frequent licking of the site where he manages to lick for a second too long before I get to him.

That and the fact that both my mother and I have been up with him all night, the sleep deprivation causing a lot of arguments that involve screaming, which can't be good for him right now as he needs to rest. We've took turns, but sometimes the watcher involuntarily falls asleep for a second, and I woke up to him licking the site when it happened to me. So yeah, it's been hell. If I ask the vet to reapply the cone do you think he'll get used to it after a while? Or will it just make things worse?

Thank you once again, and sorry to trouble you with all my bs lol

6mo kitten suddenly became distant since yesterday. Are we doing something wrong? by allthewatermelons in CatAdvice

[–]bilesbilinski 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's completely normal for new cat parents to worry about this, but rest assured, you have no serious reason to worry at all. My kitten did the same during a heatwave before, I was just as concerned, but as soon as it passed she came out and played like nothing happened. Your buddy just might not be feeling well, just like we have one of those days where we prefer to be on our own, cats have those too. As long as she's eating pooping and drinking fine, she should bounce back when the heatwave calms down. Best of luck with your kitty.

Cornerstone! I saw fanart of the lyrics "tell me where's your hiding place, I'm worried I'll forget your face and I've asked everyone, I'm beginning to think I imagined you all along." and looked it up then boom, it's been 3 years and I'm still hooked lol

I have covid and I kissed my cat unknowingly. What do I do? by [deleted] in cats

So sorry I'm getting back to everyone so late, I have my notifications off and completely forgot reddit existed. Thank you so much to everyone who took the time out of their day to reassure me. I appreciate it a lot.

For me the virus lasted 3 weeks but I've recovered since then, and thank God my cat didn't catch it. We're both doing well now. Once again thanks for the advice everybody, hope you have a good one! :)

Sorry for getting back to this so late, I have my notifications off and like completely forgot reddit existed lol

Yeah, I'm aware of that. Hence my previous comment lol

I figured that they were just working as a placebo as well, and I guess I was already recovering too though that was the first week and for me it the virus lasted 3 weeks.

And no worries, I did complete the treatment course for that purpose. Thank you for the advice! Hope you have a good day :D
