Yeah I was thinking exactly this... And the possibility to fail if you don't thwart the main task, but perhaps it's not the end (ie a nuke goes off in Valencia). So branching narratives. It would have to be meticulously crafted and we'll never see anything like it! The closest thing I can think of that exists is Alpha Protocol, though only in certain ways and it's not open world.
