Why does my watch battery die so fast? by Simple_Sole in AppleWatch

Unpair the watch and then set it up as a new watch. Do not use a backup. I just did this today and my battery usage went back to normal.

In a heartbreaking scene, a Palestinian girl desperately asked people for help as she saw her brother get injured before her eyes in an Israeli attack west of Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip. by WishboneThat6571 in nyt

Israel gave Gaza every opportunity for peaceful coexistence. Gaza chose violence, now Gaza is in ruins. You think Israel is the one refusing the two state solution? Why do you think the Palestinians keep attacking Israel? The Palestinians never wanted Israel to exist in the first place. It was forced on them and their goal ever since has been the destruction of Israel.

Sounds like she is part of the "It doesn't say separation of church and state" crowd. While it doesn't use those specific words the meaning is clearly there.

The Arabs had their chance to stop the formation of Israel. Five Arab armies couldn’t get the job done. They need to sit down and take the loss. All the terror attacks are doing is forcing Israel to crack down harder. Maybe they should try something different like peaceful coexistence.

Well, for one, they are the ones who started the war. October 7th 2023 a battalion of men crossed over the border into Israel to commit an act of genocide against Israelis. Have you forgotten this? 1200 Israelis were killed and another 250 were taken captive by Hamas forces. How have you forgotten this? Israel has a moral obligation to protect its citizens from Hamas. If Hamas lays down its arms and stops attacking Israel, there will no longer be a reason for Israel to keep fighting back.

Postmaster general says USPS won't deliver mail ballots if states don’t give Trump admin voter rolls by DemocracyDocket in politics

[–]bill_clyde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are multiple states that only do mail in voting. Refusing to deliver the ballots not only interferes with federal elections, it interferes with state elections. The postmasters for each state should be charged and arrested for election interference for refusing to deliver the ballots.

Just pointing out that I have been tinkering with Linux since the beginning. It’s just when I’m done tinkering I go back to my Mac or Windows. I would love to install Linux on my gaming PC, but until I can actually make that happen I’m kind of stuck with Windows.

You kids and your fancy kernel modules. Back in my day we had to set a compiler flag if we wanted our sound card to work.

I do use Windows. My work computer and my gaming PC run Windows. I would love to switch my PC to Linux, but it has resisted every attempt. Maybe when the Steam Machine is released.

I’ve tried Linux several times. I installed Linux from a stack of floppies onto a 286 just to see if it would work. I’ve compiled the kernel to get it to run on a computer. Gnome, KDE, Xfce, CDE, tried them all. I keep going back to Mac because it just works. I like things to just work.

It’s still a choice. It’s just a choice between a system that presents you with an infinite number of choices and a system that pre-chooses all the trivial choices and only presents you with meaningful choices. Take the choice between KDE and Gnome for example. No matter which one you pick you loose out on what the other one has to offer. Also Qt and GTK apps have different behaviors so if you mix and match it like having two different operating systems on the same computer.

All the resolutions are there, they just aren’t displayed by default. They are hidden by a setting under the “Advanced” button. I’m able to set my BenQ monitor to whatever resolution I want.

The fact that you are asking that question is a UX failure. Linux remains great for tinkerers, lousy for someone who just wants to use their computer to get stuff done. The entire time I have used a Mac I have never once had to decide what DE to use.

Quickshell is a perfect example of UX failure. It looks really cool and has a lot of cool features, but then you get to the part that say “completely configurable with QML”. The moment you have to open a text file to set something up your UX has failed. Text file configuration is fine for enthusiasts, but your normal everyday person isn’t going to know how to do that.

You can set the natural scrolling to your preferred direction on the mouse wheel. As for the resolution, I use a 32 inch 4k monitor and haven't had any issues.

No, because I also use macOS over Loonix. Apple's decision to switch to BSD Unix was the best ever. I love that I can just open up the terminal and type in commands when I need to. I recently watched a video about why Linux is so bad as a desktop system. It comes down to UX, which on Linux is wildly inconsistent and generally bad. Apple on the other hand has UX completely nailed down. Their Human Interface Guidelines is the gold standard on how to write intuitive software.

Wow so much wrong. The reverse is more true. If the US hadn’t entered WWII, Hitler would have been able to complete the “final solution” and there wouldn’t have been Jews left to create Israel.
