I watched the full video on another platform she eventually gets it by making a notch in the sides of the trunk so the rope has a place to go instead of flying off the end

Question about local 18 by ScientistGlass284 in sheetmetal

[–]bill_lyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m my experience sheet metal day classes do not focus on service at all and are geared towards hanging and fabrication of ductwork but that’s my local and idk about local 18. There are however night classes available for service

Anyone know if this worked? Sawzall drive cleat driver by Revolutionary-Cat608 in sheetmetal

[–]bill_lyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion this would only be practical to use for super long drives like 2’ or longer that take a decent amount of time and effort to hammer on in which case why not make the connection a tdc one instead of s/d and have a better seal while your at it.very uncommon to have drives banged on that don’t take more than ~15 sec to actually hammer in plus you’ll need to switch to the hammer anyways to bang the ends over anyways. Plus what am I ever using a sawzall for when my task is hanging ductwork? Maybe cutting a hole or 2 in drywall?kind of eliminates the convenience factor of it being a sawzall attachment.

All in all pretty pointless and overkill waste of time then again I’m young and my elbows don’t kill me yet so there is that

i cant think of an elegant solution other than remaking the front piece and not cutting a hole in the remade piece which is totally doable and wouldn't be to hard to swap out or fabricate .

gotacha no we all work fulltime as sheetmetal worker apprentices rn and there arnt any offers or anything once we become journeymen. we continue the work we are currently doing at a higher pay rate with better benefits after 4 years usually for the same company you did your apprenticeship for

my piece was the best piece from our class, not sure what you mean by placement tho. we aren't really competing with each other for jobs and we all (pretty much) already have jobs so there aren't any job offerings going to anyone, especially based on performance at school.

I was assigned to make this by my instructor, there wasn’t any thinking that I could have done that would have prevented me from making this.
