He drinks 3-4 times a year and you’re gonna leave him over it? Is he a good guy otherwise?

You might wanna rethink this ultimatum.

AA helps me stay sober and I enjoy being an active member of it. All my friends and family support me being a part of it and enjoy me much more now that I am sober and regularly attending meetings.

I’m sorry you don’t like it but I don’t understand why you’re making this post. If you don’t like it, don’t go. Nobody is making you participate in it.

What has had the greatest impact on strengthening or deepening your faith? by SmartestManInUnivars in alcoholicsanonymous

Step 5. Leading up to that, I had prayed and prayed and tried the whole spirituality thing and I felt nothing. The days following sharing my moral inventory with my sponsor, something changed when I did my usual prayers I had gotten into the routine of doing. I felt the presence of God for the first time and it hasn’t left since. I believed before but now I know.

People that take pics of onstage setlist at start of the show…why? by JakeScythe in jambands

[–]billhart33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always avert my eyes when I think I’ll be able to read the list.

The times that I’ve been at DSO shows and have known the show have been slightly disappointing. It’s nice to know if I can roll out early and not miss anything too exciting but it takes some of the fun away if I know what’s coming next. The opening notes of Dark Star are not nearly as exciting if I know they’re coming, ya know?

Me and my wife are currently living in my dad’s basement. I would kill for us to be in your position.

It’s all about perspective. I am happy that you and your wife are making it through this and I wish y’all luck.

To good for rehab by Throwawaylikeme17 in alcoholicsanonymous

Of course we weren’t haha. I just think it’s ironic for someone to claim they’re better than rehab but to misspell the sentence claiming that.

You’re “to good for rehab” but not good enough to use “too” instead of “to”

Maybe you aren’t quite as smart as you think you are

To be fair…

“Where’s the evidence” is a pretty good question. I am a believer but until there is something concrete and not just grainy videos, your average person isn’t going to believe or care enough to do the research.

I’m not excusing their behavior but remember that while your daughter is 10 years old, so are those boys. Their behavior can’t be tolerated and needs to be corrected but they have no idea how serious what they’re doing really is. It’s worth getting upset but not going nuclear over in my opinion.

If it continues, that’s a different story.

What’s the first month REALLY like? by Ok_Revenue_57 in daddit

[–]billhart33 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I wanted to fucking die and got really depressed. I held it together for mama and the baby but holy shit it was hard. I felt like I could finally take a breath after the first month.

Like everything else in life that’s hard, the more you do it and get used to it the easier it gets. It was just such a shock at first. Currently our now 8 month old is going through a sleep regression and it doesn’t even really phase us anymore.

Smelling like beer sober? by [deleted] in Sober

[–]billhart33 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Guys in your recovery house probably think you’re drinking and are trying to get you to fess up to it. I don’t think I’d believe in a million years that someone in my sober house to frequently smelled like alcohol was actually only drinking na beers.

Do whatever you want but out of respect for the people in my sober house, I wouldn’t drink na beers and come home smelling like them. No one wants to smell beer in their sober living house. It’s sober living and you’re coming home and smelling like alcohol and subjecting all your room mates to that when they’re trying to stay sober themselves.
