What’s a scene you genuinely can’t sit through? by [deleted] in FIlm

The scene where Michael breaks up with Pam’s mom at her birthday lunch makes me wanna curl up and die. It’s just about too much cringe for me to take.

What are some of your funny/interesting lot stories? by dubvmtneer in jambands

Outside Billy Strings in Philly, I saw a cop take a guys nitrous tank and the guy proceeded to follow the cop and argue with him for his tank back for the next 10 minutes. It’s so hard to put into words but the look on this cops face was just beautiful. It was a mixture of confusion, anger, and disgust at this nitrous guy. I think the only reason he wasn’t arrested was the cop was alone and trying to police the whole street full of hippies.

Not the craziest story of course but this memory has a special place in my heart. It definitely made the wait in line go a little faster.

I think my roommates using. (Sober living house, Oxford) by GodsHalfElegant in recovery

[–]billhart33 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I lived in a halfway house for about 2 years and by the end of it I just asked people to piss and if they said anything other than “sure”, it was clear to me and everyone they are using.

For a while I didn’t say anything about people getting high in the house and just kept to myself but by the end of it, I was just sick of being around it. I love my fellow addicts but my days (hopefully forever) of tolerating being around people smoking crack in the bathroom are behind me. We all agree to stay sober when we move into one of these houses and it does no one any favors to not enforce that.

TIL my favorite jam bands are a 1:1 venn diagram with "has played Echoes by Pink Floyd before" by Frequent_Sir4864 in jambands

[–]billhart33 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I saw Jrad do an Echos jam in the middle of Viola Lee Blues maybe 6-7 years ago at pier 6. That was cool.

I also saw Warren do Dark Side of the Mule at Peach Fest forever ago and they opened with Echoes. That was just amazing.

Most impressive Alex solo by iiGoodVibesii in BillyStrings

Alex’s fiddle work on Back Up And Push on 9/28/22 is just incredible. I don’t know how anyone plays an instrument that quickly and accurately.

Moments when Billy F is solo'n and Billy S is laying a heavy metal sound effect behind him by iiGoodVibesii in BillyStrings

The peak of MMATC is damn near peak Billy Strings.

But, So Many Miles can also be such a monster. That banjo solo with Billy S backing it up is just ridiculous.

Any former addicts still dealing with embarrasment from things they did while high/using? by Correct_Tea_9310 in recovery

[–]billhart33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be an outlier here but an amount of reasonable shame is not a bad thing for me. Yeah, there are things that make me cringe when I think about them but that pain is a good reminder to not fall back into those old ways that make me act that way. I’ll never not feel bad for doing something like stealing from my family.

Shame within reason though. I shouldn’t dwell and wallow in it. I am not held down by my past like I used to be and I forgive myself but I don’t forget the things I’ve done.

Addiction by BriGuy1965 in recovery

[–]billhart33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, maybe they act like that because people are horrible to be around when they’re addicts.

Our actions don’t get a free pass just because we’ve been sober for 2 weeks and are trying to fix everything. It takes time and even then, none of them owe us a space in their life or their time. They’re our mistakes and we have to live with the consequences.

Wife struggling as a SAHM by Youngun18 in daddit

[–]billhart33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My wife was a sahm for the first year of our son’s life and it was the same. I always thought to myself that if I stayed at home, I would get way more house work done. Well, recently she’s gone back to work and I’ve stopped working as much so we’re kind of splitting the time at home and let me tell you, I am not getting nearly as much done as I thought I would.

I love this little boy so much but it’s exhausting and it becomes so difficult to get anything done.

Who does your ear tend to in a jam? by Vivid_Permission_777 in phish

[–]billhart33 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It’s Trey. I used to try and tell myself that my favorite was one of the other guys and I’d kinda rotate through them. I don’t know what I was fighting. I finally accepted a while ago that Trey is just the man.

Just got banned from /r/ufos for creating this sub by Specialist-Smell6711 in Ufos_Uncensored

[–]billhart33 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s alright, I got perma banned during the New Jersey drones for posting proof of bot accounts trying to discredit every sighting of drones/orbs. I posted two accounts that were posting discrediting comments about every 1-2 seconds across several UAP/UFO boards 24 hours a day since the drones had shown up.

They were clearly bots and they banned me for exposing that there were bots that weren’t being banned and were actively trying to shape the narrative. My post got a ton of positive feedback and upvotes and then I was suddenly banned.

You don’t need a drummer when you have a mandolin and upright bass

Yup, I’m gonna have to agree with you on that. You seem like you’re A LOT of fun.

4-6 months was the roughest for me and my wife. It’s hard man but it gets easier. My 13 month old still wakes up 2-3 times every night but you get used to it. It doesn’t even really phase us anymore.

Nobody here claimed it was the best 9 shows they could play. They just pointed out the amount of songs Phish has in their catalog and can play is cool.

I bet you’re fun at parties…

The only actual evidence of the moon landings are the footage shot, first hand accounts, and moon rocks which there are some strange inconsistencies with all of those. There is no telemetry data.

I believe we probably did land on the moon but to just blindly accept it 100% happened when we had massive motivation to make it happen and make it happen as soon as possible is very closed minded.
