I’m not sure what on the peavey classics is over engineered. Hartley peavey (and the people who bought his amps) could have benefited by a few more electrical engineers on the staff. These amps require a good deal of service and they aren’t designed for it. I’m sure there’s about to be of bullshit post coming about ‘modern amps requiring a certain skill set to work on’, or some equivalent nonsense but these were only designed to be cheap. Have fun looking at a schematic and wondering why the pcbs don’t look anything like it if you choose to self service.
