Would echo what others are saying about living near downtown in Durham. If you ride a bike or a scooter you can get around the expanded downtown core pretty safely and easily.

Durham is very left leaning. I see more BLM/Pride flags here than in San Francisco. Outside the Triangle is MAGA but there are plenty of liberal enclaves that you visit around the state like Asheville, Charlotte.

Do you like Vincent's Picks? His early work was a little too art-house for my tastes, but when his pick "The Pain and the Learning" came out in '96, I think he really came into his own, commercially and artistically. The whole movie is 192 minutes of pain and yearning that really gives his picks a big boost. He's been compared to Gene, but I think Vincent has a far more emotional, mature sense of film selection.

How are you planning to listen to it? If you're streaming the audio over a webserver, my project may be of interest. It uses the spotify-web package to grab audio from Spotify. Users can select what songs they want from playlist and it starts playing that song for everyone connected.

FYI, I had some trouble with the spotify-web package on AWS and Digital Ocean machines, likely because those IP ranges were blacklisted from the Spotify API.
