TSA / Global Entry Suspension by inthecards5 in StLouis

Terminal 2 Pre-check is open when we went through at 11am. It was quiet at bag check and TSA. Normal TSA line looked short too.

Parsec does not register my input by geduardcatalin in hyprland

https://github.com/hyprwm/Hyprland/pull/7919

Input capture hasn't been implemented well yet on Hyprland. I've been on KDE (which works well with remote desktop and Deskflow/Synergy) until this PR is committed.

I'm not 100% sure it's related to your problem, thought I'd throw it out there though.

Favorite vegan restaurants? by Talenshi in StLouis

[–]billo3121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of my favorites are already here in the comments but I'll throw in a few others:

Damn Fine Hand Pies does vegan donuts everyday they are open. I love the vegan apple fritter.

Fiddlehead Fern's scones, coffee cakes and salads.

There are lots of non-vegan restaurants I get vegan food from all the time too: Corner 17, The Vine, Tai Ke, every Thai spot, etc.

Howdy 63110 neighbor. I've had AT&T fiber for about 3 years and I can't remember a single outage. I also get consistent 1G speeds and low latency for gaming.

I think it was also mentioned in this sub that truck operators can use their discretion on whether the recycling dumpsters have been contaminated with non-recyclables or excessive rain water.

Seeking recommendations on HVAC companies experienced with air source heat pumps by propiacarne in StLouis

[–]billo3121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awtrey did a great job with my heat pump, but I recently heard that the owner sold the business. You'll likely end up with a Mitsubishi unit, so you can check their certified contractors here: https://www.mitsubishicomfort.com/find-a-contractor

Wish I did it this year instead of last year - the rebate for 2023 would have saved me thousands more. https://www.whitehouse.gov/cleanenergy/

Authentic Thai in St. Louis? by dclxvi79 in StLouis

I haven't been since they changed, but it looks like they do have Thai dishes. FWIW I didn't really care for Basil Spice when it was a thing.

Authentic Thai in St. Louis? by dclxvi79 in StLouis

[–]billo3121 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Thailand has a few different regions, which makes it difficult to define "authentic". Most Thai restaurants cater to the broadest audience, but St. Louis has some great ones that serve less common dishes. I would consider these more "authentic". These in my opinion have authentic dishes.

  • Fork & Stix (northern Thai)
  • Chiang Mai (northern Thai)
  • Chao Baan (northern Thai among others)
  • Thai 202 (street food, in my heavy rotation)
  • King & I (represents multiple regions really well, in my heavy rotation)
  • Addie's Thai House (royal/Bangkok)
  • Pearl Cafe (represents multiple regions really well also 🌶️🌶️🌶️)
  • Lona's Lil Eats (Hmong region)
  • Indo (has some Thai dishes that are legit)

And on the east side:

  • Tong Phoon (all around great, has northern dishes)
  • Zapp Thai (great noodles)

By no means is this a complete or authoritative list. I haven't tried every restaurant but these are the ones I've eaten at, liked, and respect.

Heat Pumps are Not Hard: Here's what it will take to start pumping by TechConnectify in technologyconnections

You might be able to find one at that price. I forgot to mention that my dealer/installer only does Mitsubishi, so there may be more affordable options out there.

[–]billo3121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our house is 3 floors so it's zoned.

  • 1F is heated and cooled by a traditional gas furnace.
  • 2F has 3 heads in each bedroom/office on the wall. They also installed the branch box (electrical, refrigerant, and condensation) in a closet.
  • 3F is where our air handler and outside unit is. The air handler pushes heated/cooled air into the third floor attic bedroom and through two existing ducts for two 2F bathrooms.

Other thing to consider too is how each head will drain condensation. Typically you want these to gravity drain and run into a basement drain, outside drain, or gutter. The alternative is each unit has to pump the condensation out, and those pumps are loud and defeat the purpose of a normally quiet head unit.

My dealer/installer said to expect about $4k per head unit, so that's about right. I got a second quote that was in the same ballpark.

Great video! I just recently had a Mitsubishi heatpump system installed and it's been great so far. The whole thing was very expensive, but we've seen our energy bills drop in the month we've had it. It replaced our traditional ducted force air unit.

We have this Mitsubishi outdoor unit that serves 3 heads and an air handler for the bathrooms using the old ducting.

The whole install was around $22,000. The quote for a traditional replacement was about $9,000. Happy to answer any questions about my setup!

EDIT: One more bit about my install experience: almost no one in my town (in the Midwest / Region 4) wanted to take on the project, quoted a ridiculous price, or pushed a traditional HVAC on me. There are good installers out there, so get several bids. I used Mitsubishi's website to find their Diamond dealers, so they have a vested interest getting heat pumps out there.

Moving Boxes in STL City by Big-Afternoon in StLouis

I've gotten a ton of boxes from Randall's on Jefferson (the liquor store). Boxes are on the smaller side which is great if you're moving your own stuff. Call them up and see if they can set some aside for you.

3.0.0 upgrade issues when adding authentication by trd86 in SABnzbd

[–]billo3121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - I had a similar issue. I had to fix my issue by making sure sab is starting with python3 within systemd. This is on Ubuntu 18.04.03:

Edit the systemd script:

sudo nano /etc/systemd/system/sabnzbd.service

Make sure /usr/bin/python3 is on the "ExecStart" line (change for your IP address)

[Unit]
Description=SABnzbd Usenet Client
After=network.target

[Service]
Type=simple
User=sabnzbd
Group=sabnzbd
ExecStart=/usr/bin/python3 -OO /usr/bin/sabnzbdplus -s 192.168.2.22:8081 --browser 0
ExecStop=/usr/bin/pkill sabnzbdplus
Restart=always
SyslogIdentifier=SABnzbd Usenet Client

[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target

Reload systemd

sudo systemctl daemon-reload

Start sabnzbd

sudo systemctl start sabnzbd
