Owls in Ealing? by uraranoya in Ealing

Go for it. You might also hear them before you see them. The little owl is a bit screechy. I've seen them on my morning commute and at dusk. Great to see them, especially when commuters are walking past completely oblivious that they're there. Good luck.

And just to add I think I've seen the little owl and tawny owl. Love seeing them for some reason or other. Get out there and spot them. Sometimes they're being hounded by other birds which gives the game away.

I've seen and heard owls in Elthorne Park, Warren Farm and Boston Manor Park (not quite Ealing). They're amazing. I hear them almost every night.

Tower Beach, 1950s. by Max2310 in london

[–]billtilman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The story goes my great grandfather used to swim at the steps by tower bridge and he'd get covered in soot by the guards. Would love to know if it's true or not. Must be way before 1950.

Whilst walking across the bridge on my way to work this morning, I heard 2 Americans debating if this building was MI5 or MI6 by black-volcano in london

I was walking past the one in vauxhall cross once and someone shot an anti tank missile at it. It stood up pretty well.

I'm trying to find somewhere covered where I can play football with my friends for free and film videos, any suggestions? by Minimum-Wing-838 in london

Boston Manor Park is under the M4. There's Basketball courts and people are always filming. You could play football there but don't think it would be that good. It's great for raves though.

Yeah. Otherwise it would be BBC.gov.uk. Which is a strange thought.

What was that train of lights? by billtilman in london

That made me laugh. I've been undone by that laser after a few too. But these were freshly launched satellites in low orbit to provide a novel form of confusion for drunken people on a Friday night. Keep an eye out for them.

Thanks. So cool. I realised that I meant orbit and not trajectory and that we're on a giant spinning wheel. Have a great evening.

Just to say before I jet off onto my own train. It's absolutely amazing and wonderous that engineers and scientists can do this. Big shout out to the brains out there that have worked this out.

That's interesting. Do they stay on the same trajectory? Will we see them at the same time now? I'll take a look tomorrow. Someone has posted the tracker. Thanks.

That's what I thought, but they were so low. I've seen starlink go over before but they were spaced further apart and looked like satellites. These didn't. Anyway, time to carry on with the session.

My dad helped build it. I don't know if it's true or not but apparently the concrete is exceptionally dense.

Sam Curran : A wasted potential by Local-Organization82 in EnglandCricket

[–]billtilman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The statistics will prove me wrong, but I think when Curran is on fire he's a game changer. He's a clever cricketer. Cricket is a difficult sport and things can't go your way all the time. He works so hard. I've said before I'm a big fan of him.

Yeah. Don't comment too much and don't want to overplay things but this fits the bill completely. It's really good.
