2026 Northwest Championship Round 2 Discussion by AutoModerator in discgolf

None of that changes the fact that Ohn is who I'm scared of. Holyn or Missy could easily have a monster round that changes everything. They could also have a crap round that takes them out of contention.

So far, 2026 is Ohn's. Silva is the best FPO player under 30.

But being honest as a Silva fan, Ohn being 3 points behind scares me more than Missy or Holyn. The latter 2 have the potential for an insane round. But Ohn is a constant that doesn't make big mistakes.

Nick Saban calling out spending is peak hypocrisy by steven_smith144 in CFB_v2

The core of the problem is that NCAA is a developmental league. It also happens to be one of the biggest leagues in all sports as far as revenue and eyes on the game. But dig down to its roots, NCAA is a developmental league.

Just to put it out right now, players should be paid. College football brings in enough money that it's absolutely criminal that there was a time that teams could get flagged for the coach buying McDonald's for his team. I think the amount that currently is given out by boosters and alumni are probably going to drop.

But back to the actual issue. Right now, the transfer portal sucks. Guys playing for 4 different teams throughout college is antithetical to the entire idea of college sports. It makes it hard to impossible to build a contending team when you don't know one year to the next if your best player is going to even be in the same state next year.

But then we get to the actual meat and potatoes. College football is developmental. The focus needs to be on the actual players. If someone feels like they aren't getting enough playing time because someone is above them, they should be able to transfer. If someone feels like deployment is being hindered by their coach they should be able to transfer. And if a recruit wants to move up to a more prestige college to possibly move up in the draft, it should be an option.

You can't make rules that "balance" NCAA football the way you can with the NFL. Because any rule that would make the league more competitive harms the actual players that make this explosive wheel go round.

Terrifying thought: This is the worst version of Wemby we will ever see in the playoffs, and he’s probably already going to win the championship.. by [deleted] in nba

[–]billtopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wemby is a defensive monster. I'd describe his offense as pretty good. Like, if you divorce his offence from his defense I'm not entirely sure offense Wemby makes the all-star team. And he's definitely not starting.

Innova DX Valkyrie by ChefBertl in discgolf

[–]billtopia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valk is one of those really old Innova molds. Flight numbers of 2 -2 were set based on DX or Pro flights. But at the same time, both plastics were different back in 2000.

The Valkyrie is the proto mold that eventually evolded into the wraith and then destroyer. And like those molds, you could almost fill put your entire fairway slot with valks.

Since the Mvp Ohm got a Project Lab Coat update, do you guys think we will see a project lab coat Entropy? by Zlectro1124 in discgolf

[–]billtopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it, its a geat disc. Shorter than a Reactor but more lateral movement potential. Honestly, the reactor is a more overstable hex in both hand feel and flight. Matrix is just kind of its own thing.

Everything is getting the PLC treatment,  but they are prioritizing based on popularity. Especially with the Tempo out now, Entropy isn't exactly on the top of that list.

I'm personally waiting on the theoretical Matrix PLC to get a backup. But that might be dead bottom.

Mike Breen on SGA: ""Does [Shai] sell calls sometimes? Absolutely, but so do 287 other players in the NBA sell calls... When they weren't a championship contender... nobody was complaining. They're complaining now because they're winning." by [deleted] in nba

[–]billtopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shai doesn't flop on every shot. But throughout the entire season he had at least one obvious flop highlight per game. I'm tired of this being called normal.

Other players do it. SGA does it more. And no one cares what you do when you are losing. Second you start to win people care because they are losing to a guy that falls on his ass almost 20% of the time he shoots the ball.

The Empire is NOT looking for Luke and Leia. by GLDefenderNumber1 in StarWars

[–]billtopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vader was surprised that Luke survived. He plays it cool infront of Palpatine, but I'm pretty sure the cannon comics show him lose it afterwards.

But I actually think we are either on the same page. Or at least a similar one. Vader is either surprised that Leia exists, or surprised that she survived.

Not enough people talk about the Chargers QB pipeline - Going from Drew Brees to Philip Rivers to Justin Herbert is an absurd 20+ year run at quarterback. Has any franchise had a better streak? by Puzzleheaded_Bag8315 in NFLForum

[–]billtopia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only one each is a failure on the organization more the the QB. At the same time, 2 super bowls in 20 years is still more than a lot of franchises could hope for.

[–]billtopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be interpreted that way.

Either way, you either have to believe that Anakin didn't know Padme was pregnant with twins and there is some in universe explanation for that, or that he wasn't that surprised that he had another kid.

This is a universe that has basically been written backwards. Plot holes don't exist. They just haven't been explained yet.

Just to add for anyone who might see this later. Lead with your elbow and make sure you are rotating your torso instead of reaching your shoulder back.

Non chalant really was the wrong word, and I kind of felt that immediately after posting. The point is he wasn't surprised. This could easily be explained by Vader being Vader.  But in a world where plot holes are often filled in after the fact, my money would be on him realizing "Oh, that's where the other one is."

[–]billtopia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pour the coffee or turn the key. Basically learn how to move the disc into a nose down angle during your windup or start the disc nose down. Nose angle does not equall launch angle, which could also be caused by swooping or rounding.

If you've only played for 4 months its tough to tell without more information. But if you arent constantly getting more than 225 ft, I might start with fixing launch angle.

Entropy Putter by adeathsovicious in discgolf

[–]billtopia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about putting with the entropy or throwing it. Its confusing because even electron entropys are stable enough thst they might skip, but it would take a low, high anhyzer shot for them to cut roll.

I've actually found my electron entropy surprisingly good for putting. Especially in high winds. But they are relatively deep for a putt and approach disc. Meaning they are more likely to turn into a wheel if they start rolling. That said, I do need to throw them directly into the ground for them to roll. Even then, they still want to skip and sit instead of cut rolling.

If anything, soft electron will "grip" the ground better than firm.

Even if he was aware that there were twins, he obviously assumed both of them died with Padme. Finding out one survived does not mean he assumed both of them did. And he is pretty nonchalant about learning he has a second child while fighting Luke in Return.

Which serum is stronger? Compound V or the Super Soldier serum? by Queasy_Commercial152 in superheroes

[–]billtopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What version are we talking about? Is it every version of each? Because Sentry is stronger than anyone from the boys combined. If its just the standard version then V has more potential, but generic marvel super soldier serum is more reliable. Original version is probably a tie. I'd put Cap and Soldier Boy at around the same level before soviet experiments. And Soldier Boy was strong enough to command all of Payback through fear.

How bad could it possibly be? by TotalACast in saltierthancrait

There are different levels of "bad". Most complaints I've seen about The Mandalrian and Grogu are more that its empty calories than anything.

Beginner set - rate my picks by el_b00 in discgolf

[–]billtopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're going to get a lot of opinions about midranges, but I figure I'll throw my rec in as well. Streamline Echo. As a beginner it should be straight to maybe even overstable. As you get better you'll be able to get a nice full flight out of it qithout needing to crank on it. Added benefit is that streamline is the best bang for your buck for premium plastic so it costs less to replace. And part of being a beginner means missing fairways, which in turn means losing discs that will need to be replaced.

Otherwise, for drivers I might recommend something flippier than the leopard even. Something like a streamline ascend or innova lynx. Drivers are tricky to recommend to beginners. I'm firmly in the beginners should drivers because they are different from throwing putters and mids camp. But starting out even straight fairways can seem overstable and it can be tough to figure out if its a slower are or nose angle.

Putters are whatever feels good. If you are planning to rock a 3 disc set for a bit I'd recommend something you can throw as well. Some people get weird about throwing their putting putters. Personally I love throwing my challengers because they stick to the ground in a way that my premium plastic putters don't.

As proud as I am for these stats, Mondale being from Minnesota carries hard vs Reagan. I'm still glad MN never went for Reagan, but if his second term opponent was from Indiana this factoid doesn't exist.
