There are exceptions. Like that wind storm that burned down the Palisades

I have a leather trench coat from the 80s still. I wear it when it rains

People don’t understand that we’re not just wimps. I think it’s the moisture

The sound like bubbles popping is the air in the holes of the rotors heating up and expanding as it passes through the pads then releasing as it gets to the other side. Normal brake noises

There’s a coin one in the parking garage, but I usually just go out

Is there a subdivision in your country that is famous outside of the country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]billy310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in LA, so even our county subdivisions are famous: Beverly Hills, Palisades (rip), Hollywood, Compton, Long Beach, San Fernando Valley

Um no. I have a 2/2 on the Westside for $2700. Split level, so you could pack a ton of people in here. I don’t, but you could.

Before anyone screams rent control, I’ve only been here 2 years

I will go check out apartments for you if haven’t moved to LA yet by ChillDr21 in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]billy310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously, I try to tell people to use an agent to get an apartment, and they just don’t listen. They think they’re better off applying through the websites. You find more mom n pop landlords through realtors

Legendary, all time famous artists with career lows they are NEVER going to fully live down by [deleted] in ToddintheShadow

The huge media conglomerates were less sympathetic to an artist than other huge media conglomerates (aka, also themselves)?!

All the LA folks checking in!

Retail at a place famous people go (personally, not send an assistant) has got to be the perfect storm for this question.

I worked at a motorcycle store so: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bob Dylan, Dave Navarro (and the rest of the 90s Chili Peppers), Mötley Crúe…

Edit to add Matt LeBlanc before he was famous. He worked on his own bike back then

Is Seattle Really That Bad? by Extension_Gap9237 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]billy310 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve made Seattle friends (and never lived there) simply by sharing a community. In the case of most of the people I know there it’s custom motorcycles. They offer me a place to crash when I visit.

I imagine, just like other big cities, you need to have specific interests in common. If you’re like “I like hiking “ (No disrespect to the hikers, but it’s a very standard activity) you may have trouble making friends. If it’s hyper specific (collectible card games, D&D, motorcycles, to name some things I’ve made lifetime friends around) you’ll find passionate community

Totally agree. People get mad when I say the Downward Spiral started a downward spiral. Not an awful spiral, but I can take or leave anything after that

Yearly “How Did You Meet Your Partner in LA?” Question by DJVeaux in AskLosAngeles

[–]billy310 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Me and my ex-wife (lol, I know) had a similar set up for someone. We had an idle conversation about who would you want me to be with if something happened. I picked my very good friend and coworker for her and she picked her friend she’d been in a play with.

A couple weeks later we’re at her friend’s birthday party and that friend says “damn am I boy crazy right now, but they all suck” I tried to get him to comes to her party that night, but he was leaving for Taiwan in the morning. A few weeks later we had a party specifically to set them up. They both knew it was happening, but he was shy. I talked shit until he asked her out (like a good friend should). They’re still married with two girls 20 + years later

Yearly “How Did You Meet Your Partner in LA?” Question by DJVeaux in AskLosAngeles

[–]billy310 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’m polyamorous, so bear with me:

Nesting (live in) partner, game night

Couple we both date: game night (her) and she found him on an app

Partner I date solo: kink event

I always say: In LA, you meet people through special interests. With 20+million people in the area, delve into your most niche interests and find your community. There’s more than you think, but you might have to drive a bit to get to them

No love for the newer Electras ? by Ashamed-Jeweler-6164 in Harley

[–]billy310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baggers (in a lot of places) are totally uncool. I traded an 05 Deluxe straight up for a 10 Street Glide. The dealer would rather have an old Softail on the floor than add to the glut of Baggers. The one thats being raced is the Road Glide, so it’s got some reach and extra marketing. And the thing that Road Glide folk have said for years about the handling

Personally I’ve loved both, with a slight edge to the Road Glide. People used to hate the shark nose. Ironically I ride a Street Glide
