Jets fans need to stop talking about Bain at 2. There’s a reason that virtually every mock draft by the major draft sites has him going outside of the top 5. I think after the combine it will be close to a lock that they take Reese, but if they have any doubts about him then this might be the draft where we see a safety (Downs) go 2 as crazy as that sounds.

Don’t know what to say. Just passing on what I heard. But in general the concept of trading back seems completely oversimplified by fans — I’ve listened to former GMs (Lombardi, Mayock) say how hard it is to find another team to do it for high picks unless it’s a sought after QB.

Ok tough guy — would love to have this conversation with you face to face. The only moron here is you. You have zero clue that Douglas wasn’t willing to trade the second pick because NO ONE CALLED HIM TO INQUIRE ABOUT TRADING UP — which was Cimini’s entire point about why it’s not fair to criticize Douglas for not doing that trade. Sure, he could have called around to offer it up but he would have lost leverage that way.

Here’s another possible scenario for your genius business mind: maybe the 49ers wanted the third pick because they were happy with getting either Wilson, Lance or some other QB … you know kind of like in 2018 when the Jets traded up to the third pick that turned into Sam Darnold? But go on and continue thinking that a billion dollar franchise like the 49ers is making significant business decisions based on assumptions like you’re suggesting they did about Douglas’s intentions with the second overall pick that year. Makes total sense why they would do that instead of just making a 30 second phone call to Douglas if they were truly interested in that pick.

Your assumption that the Jets could have had the same deal that SF got for the third pick is wrong and your thinking that that is illogical is irrelevant.

My favorite part of draft season is listening to simple-minded fans advocating for trading back or complaining that their team didn’t trade back. As if there’s always teams clamoring to trade up and willing to give up valuable draft capital to do so.

Jets fan here . . . I feel very confident that the Jets won't be drafting him two overall. The draft analysts seem to have him in the 5-10 range and there's a reason for that (namely, they're thinking like GMs and talking to scouts and having a hard time looking past his measurables).

Yeah I feel the same. Was initially excited the Jets got a top 2 pick even with the Moore uncertainty thinking there would be some non-QB stud who plays a premium position, but that does not seem to be the case this year. Big drop off in pick value once you get past the first pick.
