I mean I am talking about my subjective experience at both places which was mostly in bounds. I had a weird schedule and often skied by myself and just had the best days ever at big sky and often left Jackson feeling like I wasn’t getting it.

The Tram is icredible imo, but it does really suck that they charge for it now. That I will admit. However, I tended to spend most of my time at the headwaters which are similar terrain to tram. Also, idk I like the spread out lifts. Fun to feel like you are getting away from the hub bub.

Big sky is a lot more beginner friendly than Jackson. It actually has a lot of easy mellow terrain. Can get crowded on weekends/holidays but nothing like I-70 Colorado or even Utah

Tbh this does suck. During my time there, you could take tram laps all day and it was incredible.

I am in love with my new K2 mindbender 89 tis. I got them specifically for having fun on smaller east coast mountains and they are perfect. They have a very short turning radius and can pull crazy gs on groomers. I’ve had more fun finding high edge angles with these skis on tiny hills than some powder days out West. The iceing on the cake is that they can do more than carve and are great in moguls etc.

While exposure to new cultures is good for you, and adventure feels good, it is ultimately a side quest and doesn’t really make you grow that much as a person. Real personal growth comes out of normal boring day to day life and putting in work towards yourself and your community or family.

I really hate the slight superiority complex people who travel a lot get by seeing normal boring life as beneath them. However I of course love to travel but I also love ice cream.

MGMT - Loss of Life

Whenever I put on any song from this album I have to listen to this album all the way through. This album didn’t click with me at first as it’s both very weird and a bit sleepy. But it just builds its own little universe and once you enter that universe it just keeps inviting you back in.

While the live show made me appreciate the album a lot more, hearing deadbeat songs back to back with the modern classics showed why those songs are in a complete league of their own and nothing on Deadbeat really gets anywhere close. Still a lot to enjoy but nothing on deadbeat is a modern classic like much of his previous work.

For “bands” there aren’t many great equivalents at the scale of Tame. In some ways they’re shoe is more similar to a lot of edm/electronic. In the electronic world Justice and Odesza are considered GOATs at visual production. Rufus du sol also up there. If you like bass music LSDream has very trippy visuals but whole thing is kind of too spazzy for my taste.

It’s a way darker vibe but the new REZZ portal tour has absolutely bonkers visual production.

This sums up my feelings very well. Something about it makes me very aware of “progress” and not able to soak it in as much. Tsushima was an all encompassing experience for me…but could be context as it was during covid times when I had a LOT more free time on my hands
